Harware encryption is a must!
I purchased a SanDisk Extreme Portable to gift photos to a life long friend of mine. The SanDisk turned out NOT to have hardware encryption, only software.Having learnt my lesson a while ago after 'losing' an unencrypted USB key with personal financial information on holiday (which turned out wasn't lost but had been left plugged into my computer back at home) I now refuse to use any portable unencrypted media.Losing 500G of personal files was not an option! The SanDisk with software encryption was returned and this Samsung with hardware encryption was purchased.First of all, the Samsung SSD is beautifully made. I purchased the rose gold version which I know my friend would like as it looks fashionable, sleek and modern. The SSD looks as if it can easily be scratched so I recommend a protective case. I purchased the "XANAD Protective Case for Samsung T3 / T5" in which the drives slots perfectly. The case also holds the USB cables which is handy. The drive's performance is lighting fast over USB 3.0, no issues to report here. However, when you receive the drive, make sure you UPGRADE the firmware first! In researching secure drives, I read the original firmware on the device which I received in October 2019 had a major security flaw which Samsung subsequently patched. Samsung probably now ship the SSDs with the latest firmware, but don't risk it and update!Prior to updating my firmware, I thought I should test whether the update wipes the drive. So I encrypted the drive, transferred some files, and performed an upgrade. When re-mounting the drive, all my files were still there. Of course, always have a backup prior to performing any updates (in case you do need to wipe the drive should something stop working). All in all, highly recommend this SSD thanks to its inbuilt hardware encryption. I am impatiently waiting for Samsung to produce an 8TB version in the coming years so that I can back up my entire photo library of RAW files (encrypted of course)!

An amazing little SSD device
I wanted a faster device for taking backups of my new Huawei MateBook. This device is amazingly compact and very sturdy. It comes with 2 data cables so you can connect it to either a USB C or USB A socket. On arrival, I copied off the utility software that is preloaded on the SSD to a secure location. As I use the device solely under Windows, I then reformatted it in NTFS (it arrives formatted in exFAT for compatibility with other devices). I than ran the utility but as I don't use the password feature, it is of little use to me other than to check for possible firmware upgrades.I checked the SSD performance when connected via a docking station using CrystalDiskMark (see photo) and everything is as advertised. I use Paragon Hard Disk Manager 17 for backups. Using an old HDD, these took 23+ minutes. With the Samsung T5 they complete in less than 5 minutes! That's brilliant.I also purchased a dedicated carry case to protect my investment. So, if you don't need the extra speed of the new Samsung T7 SSDs, this is a very reasonably priced device that performs really well. I am very chuffed...

Works on my laptop and ipadpro.
I bought the 1tb version primarily to use with my small 4K laptop that only has a small ssd hard drive as it it smaller, lighter, faster, and more robust than the assorted motorised hard drives that I was using, and are now just for backups. After buying it for my laptop, I read online that since my ipadpro was updated to ios13 it might also work on that, although ideally it is the newest iPad pros with usb c connection, and mine is from 2017 with the old lightning connector. It did not work with a lightning to usb cable, or via an external usb hub as some utubers suggested. It does work via the Apple usb3 to lightning camera adapter, but only with a full 2.4a charger to power it, anything less, even 2a won’t do.So there we have it, 1tb ssd for laptop and ipadpro. Very pleased, although of course I can’t comment yet on durability.

Great for video storage for portable editing
I now have three of these drives they are great, I use for all my videos that I edit for my YouTube channel Roving Chestnut. They are fast, light and small (My imac mouse is bigger!). Perfect for the job. I also use them to archive old video which saves loads of space on my hard drive of my computer, especially since I started videoing more in 4K.

Small, light, reasonably priced, 1TB External SSD with USB 3.1 connector
I bought it to use as the boot disc for my 27 inc, late 2012 Apple iMac with a 1TB hard drive. The iMac had become increasingly slow to boot up and took ages to load Email and Safari. Fitting a new internal SSD seemed beyond my capability so I have used this SSD as an external boot drive. it connects using a USB 3.0 port which the iMac has. The set up was easy though the SSD had to be reformatted -( advice was found on U Tube by googling!)It works amazingly well, boots up rapidly (though not quite as fast as with an internal SSD) and loads programs faster than the iMac ever did, even when new.So, with luck, I have a new computer which will last a few years more. The 1 TB SSD is quite small and very light, so you have to be careful where you position it. if you wish to carry it around then it would be best to keep it in some sort of protective carrier.

Sehr gute Kaufentscheidung!

Perfekte Platte an meinem iMac
