Good lift for confined garages.
Just bought this lift. I haven't had a chance to use it all that much. So far first impressions are good. Its designed well and very stable. It costs the same as a full size lift but is designed for small garages. I've always wanted a two post lift but unfortunately I've got a low garage ceiling and not enough width for a permanent 2 post full height lift.I like that I can remove the posts and make room to move about when not in use.Took me a full day to drill the holes, for the posts, and set up the first time. I recommend not removing the post after drilling the pilot holes. Drill the 7/8" hole with the posts in place. If you don't you'll end up with ugly holes which may be too big.Nice thing is that you can setup the posts to meet your vehicle requirements. Anywhere from 105"-130" width.Overall I'm very satisfied with the lift.Caveats: - Can only lock in 2 positions (~ 22 and ~45inches) utilizing locking bars rather than automatic incremental ratchet locking. - Lifting arms are a bit short. - Minimal clearance for opening the car door. You have to squeeze to get out. (@ 130" post width). - Design limitation: posts are not connected so they WILL lift at different rates, up to 1" difference. You must do a "dry" lift every time you reconnect to validate that the difference is no more than 1". If the difference is >1" you may have air in the system or hardware issue. - Because its "Mobile" you MUST bleed the system before every use.

VERY impressed with the MaxJax
I love working on cars and have wanted a lift for my home for a number of years. Like most garages my ceiling height could not support a full rise lift. I spent several years looking and researching before I decided to buy. I even went to trade shows to look at what some of the major manufacturers to the automotive dealerships had, companies like Rotary and Challenger. I never found one I thought would work until I read up on the MaxJax. I was impressed with the specs and the reviews of previous buyers, so I made my purchase. I could not be happier.First, it arrived on time and everything was there. I pre-read the installation instructions and was impressed with the well-laid out steps and illustrations. This is not a super easy process but it is also not overly complicated. Keep in mind, the idea is to a lift a 3,000-6,000 pound vehicle and go under it, so you want to know that it is properly installed.INSTALLATIONThe installation went well with one exception, that was not the fault of the lift but worth noting. The instructions make it clear to verify your concrete is thick enough (min of 4.25", I believe). When I drilled, one side of my garage floor was just over 3.25" and a quick test anchor showed it would not grab. I ended up cutting out a 4'x4' section of my floor on that side, tied it back into the rest of the slab with rebar and poured a new section. The point is to BE SURE that your floor is 4.25" or more to ensure the anchors hold. Once the anchors grab they are very solid.Installation Notes:-- A Rotary Drill will make the concrete drilling so much easier. Buy or borrow one.-- I set my lift 114" apart. this works for a Mustang but you cannot open the doors fully. Wider is better as long as you don't go too wide.-- Take your time to get everything square and levelFIRST TIME USEThe first time use and bleeding was easy, straight out of the installation guide. Don't be surprised if it jumps a little during the bleeding and first use process. It is also helpful to have weight on the lift arms but I don't think you want to start with a car. I placed about 200 lbs. on each side to help with the arms coming back down until it was bleed and tested for about an hour. Then I raised the vehicle (1965 Mustang) up about 15" and re-bleed the cylinders. The bleeding is easy. I repeated lowering the vehicle a few times and then raised it to the first lock position. I checked all the anchors and when I was satisfied that they were solid I raised it to the top lock position.CONTINUED USE AND NOTESI have used the lift for over a month and it is great. To not have to work on a creeper all the time is wonderful. Keep in mind, this is not a full-rise lift but it is still so helpful to have the tires-brakes-etc. at chest level. It is worth every penny I spent on the MaxJax. It is important to know that there are only two positions where the lift is mechanically locked - and you don't want to go under any lift that is help up only by the hydraulics. I have not found the two positions to not be a limit or a hindrance in any way but I wanted to share that for any potential buyer.I highly recommend this product for anyone who has limited ceiling height and wants to work standing up (I have approx. 9.5') . I currently have my DeTomaso Pantera undergoing suspension and exhaust work and the MaxJax saves so much time and effort.

Leaky
Five year feedback. It lifts small cars and light trucks well, albeit not very high. I have had to replace the motor contactor with a higher capacity one because the original chattered and would not stay engaged. I have had to rebuild both cylinders because they leaked so bad. One after year one and the other year four. The hydraulic fluid reservoir split on the side spilling fluid all over the garage. I am currently trying to get a replacement. The steel has tended to rust quickly and it looks kind of crappy. Bottom line is the quality is definitely lacking but it is repairable. It has enabled me to do my own oil changes, tire rotations and other simple tasks. I would say that even with all the trouble it’s been, I’m money ahead by being able to do my own maintenance.

Not super happy with this
I’ve had this lift for over a year, so yeah I have experience with it. I’m not giving you a review after install and watching it go up and down a couple of times. I use this lift a lot. This lift does not sit in my shop and collect dust. It is used several times a month, so let’s get to it.After install it worked great for a month or two. Used it quite a bit during that time, but I placed my car on it one day and one side came up, but the other one did not. I did not realize this until there was quite a list going on with the car. Called CS (which is hit and miss) and they did some trouble shooting and narrowed it down to the flow divider. Part sent, replaced and everything back to normal…… For about 8 months. Guess what? Yep, you got it. One day I go to lift my car and boom. One side goes up. Other side says nope not today.Troubleshoot, send part, replace, back in the lift business. Which brings me to today after just over a year of ownership. Hey look there is 0 rocket science in these lifts. They are anchored to the ground with a motor, flow divider, hoses, hydraulic cylinders and a reservoir. Simple. These systems quite frankly should not be malfunctioning like this and the replacement parts are expensive. Kind of makes you wonder huh? In any case knowing what I know now after a year of ownership I cannot recommend this lift. Do yourself a favor and spend more money upfront (because ultimately it will cost you less) and purchase the safest, most reliable lift you can find. This one is not that lift.
