Modern Coin Magic is the dvd version of the book that was put out many years ago. It is taught by Ben Salinas, a wonderful magician who is a great instructor. He takes you step by step through each move, and shows the to you up to speed and a much slower speed, and fron differnt angles as well. This video is the bible for learning all their is to know about coins.With over 170 sleights and tricks, you will have alk you will ever need to do coin magic for yourself, to entertain friends or others. Straight out of the pages of the classic J.B. BoBo "coin bible" Modern Coin Magic! Some of those sleights that may have seemed incomprehensible in print are now available on dvd. Who could ask for anything more? This illustrious 4 dvd set is a must have for anyone even remotely interested in coin magic. From the novice to the working pro,there is somthing to be gleaned from this masterwork.The price was so astonishing, I keep waiting on the Police to knock on my door to take it back! The only thing I didn't like was before I placed the order I was told that it would arrive in 8 days. After making the purchase it turned out it was closer to 16 days,I digress, oh well! Anyway, Buy!!Buy!!!....uh...I meant, so long! Lol!!

Thus far I've only watched Disc 1 and Most of Disc 2, it's excellent. When I first learned this stuff I had only J. B. Bobo's excellent book as a guide. Seeing an expert perform the slights is very helpful, and in some cases even enlightening. You couldn't hope for a better teaching aid or a more talented teacher. I do, however, still recommend direct book study in addition to these wonderful DVDs, because in doing so you are more likely to cultivate your own unique techniques. You also may find you get a bigger sense of accomplishment from culling miracles from a printed page, than from parroting them from a screen. I have noticed one potential problem, in that the case did not protect the inner 2 of the four discs very well during transit. Disc 2 and Disc 3 ride on a flap, and seem to spin loosely enough to scuff their surfaces in a very unfortunate circular way. But so far they play fine. To conclude, for the $24 dollars I paid, this is an incredible bargain, easily worth twice the price.

This DVD set is awesome. Well produced. The instructions are extremely clear. Ben Salinas, who's a great magician takes you through each move step-by-step. But Modern Coin Magic is NOT a toy nor is it for the faint of heart. Many people get discouraged at trying to learn all the sleight of hand involved with coin magic. The video has it all and all you need is a practicing mirror and enjoy the learning process. Some of what is presented requires a lot of committed practice. So be patient! And the price for all this HUMONGOUS amount of information is amazing! Finally I would recommend buying the book. It helps to read about the sleights and then see them being performed in the videos.

I wanted a DVD - the description said it was the size of Standard DVD in multiple places, but it's actually a "digital download" and streaming access. It's for a kid, who we are fine sitting in front of a TV and DVD player but it's a lot harder to keep him on task on a computer/internet. Probably going to return it, which really stinks since this is what I wanted for the Christmas gift.

This is really a fun set of DVDs. It actually does take a good deal of work to master these tricks, but if you learn to enjoy the practice you can entertain others and bring some interest into what could be an otherwise boring bit of time. Like while you are waiting for you table in a deli....start doing some magic tricks. Even if you really screw them up, that is entertaining. But these tricks are good. A few of them are excellent. The excellent ones are worth the price of this whole set because once you learn them, you can perform them anytime. Its always fun for people ho have never seen them.

Almost all the magic I do is with cards, so I bought this hoping it would give me a good review of the coin moves I knew, and show me some material I'd feel comfortable performing. So far, so good. Looking at the video, I saw that I was doing some basic moves poorly. I've also learned new sleights, and some tricks I'll feel comfortable performing in front of an audience. I've not seen all the material yet, as there are four disks here, but I'm confident that I'll find more to like. considering the price, these volumes should be owned by anyone who is interested in coin magic.
