Games Workshop Citadel Hobby Starter Set

For what you pay, this is quite a good deal. No arguements from me on that.However.If you want to start "hobbying" Warhammer 40k figures like I just have, you will find out VERY quickly that this is not NEARLY enough. There are many good websites out there that will tell you what you need, I won't bother to link them, but if you're reading this, I assume you know how to Google.You need a few more paint brushes, all of them MUCH finer than the one provided. The little clippers are nice, but an exacto knife works 100x better. The glues provided are good, but the applicator tips are enema sizes and the figures I work with are 28mm tall. Something with a finer applicator would be better.All in all, this is a very nice kit. But do yourself a favor and get the extra things to make your start easier.

This set got me started. That's about all I can say. It'd be nice to have some models to come along with this set, like the paint starter set, but oh well. I bought other, cheaper wire snips before I got this set. The ones that Games Workshop sell are better. They have divots cut into the wire snips that make them thinner and WAY easier to cut and snip sprue tight to the models. The less expensive, basic, everyday hardware store wire snips don't have this feature.

I just started painting miniatures for the first time using this set. Yes, you'll eventually need more brushes and paints--that is the nature of the hobby after all--but I was able to paint three different minis (a werewolf, a paladin and a wizard) pretty well with the one brush and had plenty of paint left over. So, my fellow beginners, you do have to start SOMEWHERE and you can't go wrong with this set. I highly recommend magnifying glass/lamp combo or glasses...it would be quite difficult and less fun to paint without them.

let me start off by saying that the paint is amazing, it is some of the best I have ever used. I gave this a 3 star rating for the fact that it took nearly twice as long as promised for this amazing paint to get to me. Improve your shipping methods please. Overall I love the paint set.

This is a good basic starter set. However it did not come with some of the colors I would use for my high elves. Probably would have been better off buying individual paints.

This is a great set to use for my new hobby and as a layer paint and one primer and several base paints that I need for what I need to do. And I will able to use it for my warhammer 40k army that I want to complete

Bought this for the wife...she seems very satisfied...nice. As she and I are noobs at painting , this looks to be a good starter set.
