Slightly less good stuff
In book 3 the conflict of the preceding books comes to its conclusion, sadly its rushed and feels kind of anti-climatic. While to OP soul dagger and Mace special snowflake statues have made the whole conflict rather "meh" the ending made me shake my head in resignation.A good story with a nice backdrop. There are some good fights and interesting characters. Sadly you soon find that many of them feels kind of the same. What makes the Ogre captain of Lakeside different from the leader of the Minotaurs? The introduction, since they have very little of the way of character to differentiate them, while they are support characters and don't need long development stories it would have been nice with a little more just to make them stand out. While the in-game world feels rather generic, it does it job and lays the foundation for the conflicts nicely. Our MC is the bog standard vanilla good guy without getting annoying. I do like the fact that he is slightly different in-game, as most of us are since we don't feel real danger while playing a game. He is more cautious and scared while in the real world.I like the apocalypse backdrop and could see it having worked as its own story without the gamelit parts. One of my big gripes with the books is the soul dagger. Its way to over powered and I think it take away from the fights since you know that Mace can simply one shot any foe they meet. Leading to the big conflict of the 3 first books being over in less than 5 pages. While book 1 and 2 is more in the vein of adventure, book 3 get more into city building.I recommend the series and while flawed (in my opinion) its still one of the better stories I've read recently. But my interest in the series is vanning. I hope that the author gives us some real challenges that can't be one shot with a dagger in book 4.

Another great work by Dave.
A great read. The story follows our favorite dark elf. It picks up right where the last one left off. I love this story. It's a little darker but not overly so. It is well written and great editing. Very clean. This is one of my favorite series to read. In my opinion it seems that every story he writes is gold. Each story is unique and different.

A good continuation
The multi-narrative story continues, splitting story telling time between real life apocalypse threats and fantasy VRMMO adventure. The groups each have their own problems IRL and in game that they’re dealing with but are getting that much closer to at least coming together in game. Personally, I liked the addition of Tex, the rooting-tooting cyberneurologist. I also like how the author pimps his fibble merch in the story.Game mechanic wise, there’s an expansion on the kingdom building stuff and crafting plus the usual action-adventure.Overall, even though I liked the survivalist real life stuff a bit more than the VRMMO fantasy, I had a good time reading it.Score: 7.5 out of 10

My fave LitRPG series!
My Favorite LitRPG series! I love the unique cast of characters and the unique spin with the real world. I’m a big fan of apoc/post-apoc stuff and this story is right up my alley. Would love to see a TV series! Highly recommended!

Still having fun.
This was different. The big battle was up front and the later part of the book was kingdom building, running errands, exploring, and meeting folk. Nothing wrong with that. Just felt a bit odd. Thanks to Dave for more Ian the Bunny action. I love the characters and the game world. I'm not a post apocalypse story fan but the zombie fighting was thrilling. Overall a pretty good read. I did get a chuckle from the author references and a good bit of twitting some gnomes.

Munchkins do rule!
Another worthy addition to the genre. This book continues the story of the survivors and their quest to...well, survive. The book is well-written and consistent with the first two. The author keeps the story progressing and presents a few new challenges to keep it interesting.

Great book
I just love this series. The troubles that the main characters face are just so huge. The story just pulls you in and you can’t stop until you know what happens. I can’t wait for the next book.

Excellent Series, Excellant Writer
I love the stuff that Dave Willmarth writes. He is imaginative and it is fun to listen to and read. I am reading 3 of his series at the same time and my only regret is that I want the next books and I want them on Audio, soon! This series really captured my imagination. I like the way he shows that Mace is two people. Anyone who has ever played D & D or first person video games knows that you can create your character anyway you want, be and do all the things you can't do in real life. Mace is scared and sometimes overwhelmed in the real world and he is fearless and kind of blood thirst in the world. I enjoyed the fact that he made his characters real and did not create them as super over achievers. Two of his characters, one of them a girl, opted to become dwarves. I keep listening to the first two books and then reading the third book. I am impatient waiting for Dave to get the rest of the series done and get it read so that I can listen in my car. Hurry Dave!
