BitScope Micro - USB Mixed Signal Oscilloscope, Waveform, Clock Generator, and Logic Analyzer

This product is a nice little oscilloscope that I have been using almost daily for 6 months (under Mac OS X) - it works fine for low frequency signals.The reason why I subtracted two stars is the buggy accompanying software and dismal customer support. There are two nasty bugs that have been reported first back in June and multiple times afterwards that still remain unfixed. First concerns the main BitScope DSO software (2.9 is the latest). In the lower right corner there are two controls (right under OSCILLOSCOPE widget): sample timing and sampling rate. Supposedly, these are set automatically but should also be user controlled. When one attempts modifying any of these the Mac issues a violation error pop-up.The second program BitScope Logic is designed for protocol analysis. It works fine for slow signals, but it suffers from the same bug the DSO software does: it is impossible to manually set a higher bit rate! Thus, it is practically useless for analyzing the SPI protocol of my speedy 16 MHz Arduino Mega.What's funny is that in both latest releases the described bugs were reported as "fixed". They are _not_, at least not on Mac. The company only promises fixes but not delivers. For example, the latest promise (through Trelo board) of releasing a fixed BitScope Logic came this August: "it will be ready in a week". Well, it's October and unless "a week" lasts 2 months in BitScope world the fix has not been delivered.Bugs happen, I know, but what’s disappointing is that they still persist many months after being reported! I send numerous support messages on these issues, but all I am getting back are empty promises of “it will be fixed”... :(

Awesome product

I've been using the bitscope BS05U for years. I use it on a Mac, and on Linux. It's helped me debug and trouble shoot numerous situations and it's always been a handy tool to have around. It also happens to work great on a $35 RPi.Over the years I've had to contact the company to ask some out of the box questions. They've always gotten back to me within 1 business day, sometimes even with a phone call.If you are a professional with a small lab, or an at home hobbies, I strongly recommend picking up a BS05U.

Careful before falling for this by now very outdated product. Reads pretty well, but in reality is an unusable scope. SW is outdated and crashes all the time and is no longer maintained by the maker.

I bought two of these and they are pretty impressive when driving a 7 inch monitor from a Linux-based Raspberry-Pi. Makes one hell of a Metal Detector !!! It is true that they don't work very well on any MAC I've ever tried them on ... really buggy. They also suffer from one other MAJOR PROBLEM: You can't ADD or SUBTRACT to or from ch-1 or ch-2 and display the sum or difference ... not even in analog mode. THAT is a very BASIC function and a very CRITICAL function and is present on even real crappy, scum-o-the-Earth scopes from nearly all manufacturers. BS-Support said the function would be implemented in the DSO-3.0 software in two or three months .... THAT was TWO YEARS AGO ... I really hate being told to pound sand.

Does not do what it is advertised to do. Can not set sample rate. There is UI for it, but interacting with the UI has no effect on the behavior of the software. Software is buggy on Mac and Fedora Linux.The documentation feels like digging through a bucket of 10,000 M3 screws looking for that single M2.5 screw that you know is in there. But what you are looking for is not there. After you read all of it and watch the hour-long virtually unlistenable punishment video, you find out that it just can't do what you need it to do.I'm mad at myself for buying this. Just get a real scope.

The hardware works fine and the feature set is good - nice having digital+analog+waveform generator. However, I found the software (v2.8) hard to use -- even after watching the tutorial, spent too much time futzing with what I found to be a counter-intuitive interface. Part of the issue may be that I'm not familiar with higher-end scopes -- people more familiar with the general product category may fare better. I ended up getting a different brand of small scope with better constructed software.
