Perfect for toning muscles anywhere
Outstanding product. Allows for full range of motion and provides excellent workout. I am an athletic, 6"4" muscular male, and I find the 8'lb red reels to be very sufficient. These are for toning muscles and certainly give them quite the burn. I've been using them for a week and love them, highly recommended for a lightweight, transportable workout.

UPDATE: After several attempts at tracking them down, I found a very responsive person who resolved the issue apologetically. They replaced my blue reels immediately and I've had no issues with this set. I think the customer service problem was related to growing pains as they were having issues with their web site. This company seems to be on top of things now and produces a great product. As with almost everything, there's likely to be a lemon every once in a while. In the end, they provided excellent service and a great product. I would recommend these for sure.Original review: I loved these while they lasted which was only about a month (maybe 6 weeks). I've been trying unsuccessfully to reach PowerReels directly since they broke JUST outside the return window and have yet to hear back from them. For $70, I would expect these to last years rather than weeks. And their customer service is non-existent. I love the concept and product design so I'm going to see if I can find a similar product from a different manufacturer. I would not recommend based on quality of product and customer service.

Smooth glide. Lightest ones are good for beginners or rehabbing certain injuries.
I sustained a severe rotator cuff injury and was unable to use my arm let alone exercise it. As a result, my arms got weaker and started to look a little flabby which I swore I would never let happen. I thought for a long time about whether these Power Reels would work for me and what size to get. I ended up getting the lightest resistance - 3 lbs. I did that because I was still rehabbing my shoulder and any more than that would have caused more injury. These are like weights on resistance bands sort of. They're easy to hold in my hand and they really are pretty light and easy to use even with an injury. There are a number of exercises that you can do with these and you can get more out of them if you follow the exercises on their website.I have been using these for about three months consistently and I am beginning to outgrow them. My shoulder is healing - but still gives me trouble if I overwork it - and I think in a few months, I will be ready to move up. I am not sure I want to spend another $60.00 on a heavier pair though. The ones I have are easy to use practically anywhere. I can use them while watching TV, on my stepper, at my desk when I take breaks, etc. It doesn't take a lot of effort and I do feel it after a bunch of reps. My arms have started to firm back up but it will be awhile before I can really work them and get my muscle tone back.I think, looking back, I should have bought the medium weight Power Reels. I almost did then worried about my injury. If I wasn't rehabbing, I definitely would have bought at least the middle weights. These are still working fine though, nice and smooth, and I still can get a burn with a lot of reps. I use them for butterflies, triceps, and other arm work as well as for a good back and chest stretch. They don't replace, in my mind, regular dumbbells but they're a good first step to getting your arms and back muscles working and moving. If you have been inactive or are injury prone, these lighter Power Reels are a good choice. If you're younger and at least a bit active, the middle sized weights are probably better for you. You will feel it faster and grow into them rather than grow out of them as I feel I have with the 3 lb. set.In all, 4 stars for functionality and durability. I wish there were a way to change the resistance but that's not an option so I either fork out the money for heavier Power Reels or go back to regular dumbbells. I prefer to use these and probably will cave in and buy the next weight up. My sister would love the ones I am using now so theones I have certainly won't collect dust.

Well made, kind to joints, pleasant feel.
Best for my aging joints. I have been careful to protect my arms, wrists and hands through my working life. These continuous resistance reels give smooth movement and none of the shocks of overcoming inertia to start and to stop motion (which you get with free weights). This is much better for your joints, and feels more pleasant.

An outstanding, versatile product!
If you are like me and what to stay in trim then this product shines. There are so many different exercises you can do and it is very well made. The pulleys feel very smooth and the grips are grippy! I am a 50 year old man and I purchased the 8lb which is perfect for me. You will be surprised at the muscle burn you get.At first I thought it was expensive but compared to quality dumb bells it is a good value. I am a very active person but hate going to a gym. So using this when I am watching TV or integrating it into my stretching at home is great. This product is just what I was looking for.

I have worked out for decades. Recently I switched to doing eccentric exercises. This is such a wonderful tool and helps me isolate the muscles and achieve the gradual release required for this type of exercise. It allows me to work out at numerous angle and my chest is firming up, too.

Great Value For The Money Spent
I bought the 8 lbs model. At first I didn't feel like the resistance was enough. Eventually I found it was plenty when used in all the different workout configurations. I prefer lower resistance/high repetition type work out as opposed to higher resistance/low repetition workout. Often love to grab the Power Reels and just start stretching and pulling even if its not my regular workout time. Feels good to release personal tension.
