Admittedly a low end device, but for the price point works very well
The ultimate test for this device would, of course, be if I discovered a hidden camera. So far I doubt my lifestyle has brought me into contact with any, but if it did, I'm sure this device would help. The device has two main functions: detect a camera lens visually and detect RF frequencies. For the first, you look through a viewfinder and turn on a red light (steady or flashing) and a camera lens (being glass) will show a distinct reflection. In using a webcam to simulate a hidden camera, it certainly seemed easy to do.Wireless cameras (or other devices) using RF frequencies can be detected as well. This is not a professional device by any means, but it does have a high and low sensitivity setting and a directional antenna. I tried it with many different RF devices ranging from cell phones to wireless home phones to computers to iPhones to WiFi routers. On "high sensitivity" I was able to determine if there was an RF signal from somewhere in the vicinity and with the low setting, I could pinpoint the location fairly accurately. In environments with a lot of RF in the air (lots of cellphones, computers, etc.) it may be overwhelmed. And as I said, this is not a professional device that allows you to finely adjust frequencies, etc. But it's a great little device for the price. There is also a "vibrate" mode, although I doubt its usefulness. The idea is that you have this in your pocket, and when RF is detected, it silently lets you know with vibration. But for this to be practical, the antenna has to be retracted, which makes the device much less sensitive. Also, with a world full of cell phones and WiFi, the "signal to noise" ratio would be very low.Basically, a fun little gadget that I will bring with me to hotel rooms. If you are really paranoid, however, this isn't for you. You'll want a pro model.

It works!
At first it looks like a cheap toy, but this thing hella works. I tested on iPhones and androids with no luck. Once I tested it on actual video/surveillance cameras, I saw the flashing lights (even small hidden cameras) the red blinker makes the lense blink and the red light helped me find what I was looking for. I did some research, and this device is the second best in the market for the price. I went with this one cuz it’s small. The radio detector works also. The directions that come with my order aren’t that good. You can Youtube this model for better directions. RD-10 portable RF and hidden surveillance camera finder.
