Good little bag for the price
The BasicsDaily gym bag that’s big enough to hold my clothes without being too oversized. I’m planning on biking into work, and the last thing I need is a large duffle bag getting in the way. Bag needs to fit 1 pair of work boots (size 14), one pair of jeans (size 36x36), 1 work polo, socks, towel, personal grooming products, and other small odds-&-ends one tends to carry on their person. How did it do?Quite well, quite well indeed.Capacity – I was impressed by how much I was able to put into the duffle bag. I managed to get all the items listed above, with some room to spare. Bag didn’t feel like it was going to bust in the seams, still had plenty of room to dig around in the bag after I placed everything in it. My size 14, mid-calf, boots did require a bit of TLC to get them into the bag, but once I figured out the process of getting them in and out, it was a breeze.Build quality – Bag is made of a tough material, feels like stiff canvas that wont rip too easily. Bad is really stiff, but I figure it will loosen up over time.Storage Compartments – The front pocket is decent, lots of room for my wallet, phone, and other pocket litter items. The front side pocket is weird to get into. I’m currently not using if for anything, and I don’t see a reason to either. I wish the bag had a drop-down pocket on the back side in place of the front side one. My old bag has one, and I used it quite frequently.Complaint – My only real criticism of the bag, if you call it that is the fact that the bag is completely round; my old bag was more D shaped, with the flat of the ‘D’ being the bottom of the bag. The roundness of the bag become very evident when it’s empty. Since the material of the bag is currently quite stiff, the round side walls make the bag resemble a cylinder. This becomes a nuisance when I was trying to have the bag stay up to fill it, but it kept rolling towards the front (heavy side), making the zipper face down. I figure this will eventually work itself out, as I use it more and more, deforming the bottom to a more flat shape. For now, I just have to be ready to put something into the bag immediately upon unzippering it in order to prevent it from rolling.Overall, I’m impressed by this little bag. I was looking for something compact that could fit all my items, but not a too oversized as to prevent it from fitting into the small lockers at work. This bag did exactly that, and at a reasonable price too.
