Very good compilation of essays on the subject
I had to get this book for a Love and Friendship philosophy class I took and I was pleasantly surprised at how intriguing the articles in here were. I haven't read all of them, but the ones I did read were very enlightening insofar as I never realized how troublesome it can be to work out what friendship is. Most of what I read was in connection to ethics, namely consequentialism, kantianism, and virtue theory. Each article I read had something interesting to say about one of those theories, mostly how they aren't sufficient or accurate to explain or endorse friendship as we typically see it.If you're into philosophy and happen to want to delve into the concepts of friendship and love, I highly recommend this book as a more contemporary compilation on the subject.
