The Divine Spark: A Graham Hancock Reader: Psychedelics, Consciousness, and the Birth of Civilization

Graham Hancock's "The Divine Spark" will set your hair on fire! ! !
Brilliant, Mind Boggling, Exhilarating, Breathtaking, Thought Provoking and Inspiring. A marvelous paradigm shift in the way we view the Cosmos, Physics and Consciousness. Establishment Academia and Materialist Physics is turned upside down. Material Physics meets and connects with Meta-Physics; the mathematics prove the theories and reconcile the conjunction of the two. This book requires a "high-lighter" you'll want to utilize while reading. There are ample footnotes and URL's the reader can refer to, to verify/amplify the mountains of new information and data found within it's pages. You will be taken on an extraordinary journey into new dimensions, Macro and Micro, Outer and Inner.I will be reading this volume more than once and be using it as a reliable reference source. It's truly exciting.

Not Bad, Expected More from Graham Hancock
The book is a collection of pieces on psychedelics. I read America Before then Supernatural which are very high bars to match. This book tries to cover the full spectrum of scientific to mystic and there is some good information but also a lot of stuff I just don't care about. No epiphanies if this is a topic that you frequent.

A panoramic view of psychedelics and consciousness
I would have given it 5 stars, but some of the selections were in my opinion unnecessary and too technical for even the above average intellect, although I do realize that they were included to give a scientific credibility to the use of psychedelics. I especially appreciated the honesty in the description of the ayahuasca experience.

Somewhat disappointing book that stresses experiences from mind altering substances.
Normally I really like Graham Hancock's books, but this one did not measure up to many of his past efforts. Granted, most of the book came from materials of other authors, but I bought this book seeking to learn some new things about inner awareness that might include some thoughts of how psychotropic/psychoactive substances can supplement spiritual/mystical experiences, but what I found was that the book is almost obsessed with the drug angle for its own sake and very little about how such substances induce the user to make changes in their lives to bring good into this world. As it was, there were too many parallels with Carlos Castenada themes. It isn't that I am opposed to enhanced experiences through mind altering substances, but if I read about such things I'd prefer to see it coupled with how it takes the user's life in a different direction that benefits others whom the person comes in contact with.

I've been reading Graham Hancock since Fingerprints of the Gods... following his evolution into human consciousness research and the sovereignty of the human mind and body. The Divine Spark is a wonderful read that will help you navigate the meaning of your own consciousness and what it means to be an awakened human.

Learned a lot about psychedelics and was particularly interested in two articles in the book, both on the nature of consciousness. In fact, I ordered two books by Gregory Sams after reading this book.

DMT or Science? Or both? Or neither?
Scientists never amaze me but this book is different. Instead of aliens in spacecraft, we have the dimensional beings from states of higher and lower plains than our own. Somehow this is not as interesting as I thought it might have been had I also taken DMT. I don't even know where to get DMT and if I did, would I take this journey alone? Many answered questions, but some still linger for me.

Be Convinced
Edited by Graham Hancock after releasing his important book Supernatural. The Divine Spark follows Supernatural in the examination of the role that natural psychedelics play in the development of the human imagination and human spirituality. The articles and book excerpts by various authors illuminate the current attitudes toward psychedelics by proponents of these substances. It is a valuable companion to Hancock's book Supernatural. Read both and be convinced or validated regarding the efficacy of these substances.
