It's pretty cool
I ordered this last night right before I fell asleep and it was here this morning before I'd even had a cup of coffee. Incredible job Amazon. I bought it to snag a tree limb so I can pull it away from power wires before I cut it down and it is clearly sturdy enough for the job. It is a little smaller than I expected but, at the same time , what I was envisioning was probably too big. This is perfect. It's very cool and well worth the the $26 or whatever it was I paid for it. I don't know how many more uses I'll have for it after this tree but it's still pretty darned cool. lol Would I trust my life to it? Not unless I really had to. Now, time for that cup of coffee.

Great in the trees
Reading most of the reviews for these hooks you'll see a lot of batman aficionados. I'd like to give my perspective as a person who actually uses it in the trees. This hook is great in the trees. It has a substantial weight which I actually like a lot. When I'm say 50 feet or so into a tree I can throw this hook up another 15 feet to advance my position. the weight of the hook makes it easy to throw my rope around a branch. Also When I let the hook out I can throw to either a branch in another tree or a further away branch in the same tree to get a two rope system going. I can pull myself to the other anchor point and this grapple hook won't let go as long as you can keep it tight. Then it's actually very easy to remove the hook by flicking the rope up and letting it fall. I use it most everytime I'm in a tree now.

A nice rope
Although I have yet to use this rope, out of the package, I'll say this. It has a very pretty tightly braided polyester shell with a filament core. It looks just like climbing ropes, but I would not trust my life on a rope not made for climbing. I will use it to drag limbs out of a pond. I thought it was a good purchase for the purpose and don't have any apparent doubt it will work well for what I need.

More than adequate for my non-climbing needs
I’m not a climbing enthusiast, and I cannot speak to the utility of this grappling hook for that purpose. That being said, it will be more than adequate for what I plan to use it for: retrieving heavy items I’ve snagged while magnet fishing. It will probably be useful for other purposes as well, and may be adequate for climbing, but I would rely on the advice of others about that instead of my inexpert opinion.

Legit Grappling Hook
Bad mom moment. My Son had saved up his birthday money and was scrolling through Amazon for Batman type gear. I was freaking exhausted and nodding off on the couch when he squealed “mom a real bat grappling hook can I get it with my Birthday money... I half nodded and like any kid his age he is better navigating internet shopping then I am. So a few days later I’m opening up an Amazon package to reveal what appears to be a very legit grappling hook and my mind flashes back to a few days back....We had a long talk about legit grappling hooks and Batman grappling hooks and how we need to keep this one in our camping gear 😆😳....to use for like rock climbing or whatever.. definitely NOT a toy but I’m actually kind of excited to test it out in a few weeks when we go camping!

Super sturdy
We bought this to drag the lake with to snag a chair that fell off the dock. This thing is SUPER sturdy, so be careful what you get it stuck on. Ended up working great. We found the chair and a few others as well!

Heavy duty
This thing is awesome. It's well made and strong, very secure but also compact. It is heavy, though, so if you're looking for something you can toss around easily you may want to go with a lighter option.
