A "very" beginner's guide
If you've never read another book about cybersecurity, start with this one. It will lay out the basics for you, telling you ABOUT most of the relevant topics such as penetration testing, integration of machine language into cyberdefense, and what a SOC is. I stress the word "about" because there is no depth to this book at all. The chapter on "labs" is a paragraph review on various outdated and expired websites that offer, or used to offer, useful hands-on exercises a few years ago. Spending three chapters on career planning and certifications at this point in your learning is silly. So, start with this book. Then quickly move on. Dr. Ozkaya has a great writing style an obvious mastery of the topic. I strongly recommend that you move quickly to his Cybersecurity: Attack and Defense Strategies book. Now THAT is a good book on cybersecurity.

Multiple Errors/Factual Errors
Had to get this book for a College class. Reading along I found numerous misspellings and incomplete sentences. It really takes you out of the reading aspect.Something else I noticed that makes me question the entire book’s facts is on page 88 when it references the WannaCry attack. It says it happened in 2016 and led to many deaths in hospitals. A story just came out 6 days ago from the date of this review that a lady was the first to die from a cyberattack in Germany. When I checked on the WannaCry attack it didn’t happen in 2016 it happened in 2017 and no deaths were credited to the attack.Other than that it is super easy to read along to. I think anyone interested in Cyber Security no matter the age could read this book.

Cybersecurity careers resource
Some reviewers seem to think this book will teach you cyber security but it's more about cybersecurity careers and in that area it really shines. (Though the author did have a really good tip about dns) I want to thank the author (and all the other people who contributed) for this great resource.

Excellent Resource for a Motivated Beginner
This book contains detailed information covering many topics of interest to someone considering a career in cyber security. The historical introduction to the concept is very engaging, and the section on certifications is particularly useful. The most inspiring part (and one of the most substatial sections of the book) is Chapter 11, which contains expert advice from senior industry professionals.

So far so good
If you’re new to cyber security then this book is for you. It explains what to expect and so on. I’m still reading as we speak. But so far so good.

Okay-ish as a reference for beginners
It is ok to use as an introductory material for cyber security, especially for those considering a career in InfoSec and wishing for a road map. It is quite broad, but not very deep in content.I give it 2 stars because the quality of some figures, and even presence of some figures, is unacceptable. First, there is a resolution problem, as some (in fact, most of) figures are difficult to read, because they were copy-pasted from somewhere. Second, some figures are simply bloating the book and do not add value (e.g., the scheme of SANS courses here that both suffers from poor quality and does not add value). There is even a picture of the cover of another book from the same author - in the text! Why does it need to be there? Is giving the title not enough? Just to make up for more pages?I think that by placing poorly readable or unnecessary figures, the author and the publisher show their lack of respect for the reader's time and money. I will not buy other books from this publisher because this lack of editing is unacceptable for technology books.
