perfect and great value
excellent value. I purchased these last year and they are still sharp and work perfectly. I will remember these in 2-3 years when I need to replace them.

I am so pleased
I am so pleased with this product. It is so easy to use and "frenches" very quickly. The beans somehow taste better and fresher this way. While the end cutter works well enough, it is faster for me to just slice the ends with a knife (lining up many like soldiers and chopping the ends off with one slice of the knife). I have had so much fun using it that I have adapted a green bean recipe to show it off. This recipe has impressed everyone I have serve it to. We are planning to serve it for Thanksgiving. Grateful Green Bean Casserole One pound green beans frenched with the Krisk Bean String and Slicer 12 Ounces (one package) of brown mushrooms sliced very thinly 12 Ounces (one package) cherry tomatoes sliced in quarters Combine the above three ingredients in a pretty serving bowl and then fold in the dressing below. Allow to sit at room temperature for at least one hour before serving. Grateful Green Bean Casserole Dressing 1/4 cup water The juice of one fresh lemon 1/4 teaspoon powered mustard One medium zucchini roughly chopped One date 1/4 cup cashews that have been soaking a little water for one hour Add first water, then lemon juice, then mustard, then zucchini and blend until smooth. Then add the date and cashew and blend again until smooth.

Small but mighty
This bean frencher works very well, but it is a slow process as you french one bean at a time. That being said, it really doesn't take all that much time to french a batch of beans for dinner or even 8 pints for canning as I did. In this hurry up world sometimes it is good to slow down a bit and enjoy preparing food for dinner or preserving. This handy tool works by pushing a bean through the very sharp blades, thereby 'frenching' the bean into thin slices. It has another blade to slice the ends off the beans prior to frenching. No electricity, no buttons- just easy, human powered actions. It is easy to clean and stores easily in a drawer due to it's small size. Shipping was free from the seller and arrived before the estimated delivery date. This tool is a very good buy.

Teeny Tiny & Tons of Work
I do not understand why this item has so many rave reviews. This is a ONE AT A TIME bean slicer that you have to shove the bean through from one side and then tug through from the other. How is this faster than using a knife? Your fingers are in close proximity to the razor sharp blades the whole time. (I sliced my thumb just taking this thing out of the packaging) Not to mention that the variety of bean I grow is too large to fit through the hole. But even if it wasn't, I don't think I would use this.

not sharp
I bought this to replace an identical one that has been in use for years to the point the blades are rusted. The new one has blades that are less sharp so it does not work as well as the one with the rusted blades.

Not for big jobs but good tool
I got this for canning which was a poor choice since I had a LOT to do. That said, it worked like a champ. For canning, I should have gotten something that would accomodate several beans at once. But, if you want something for preparing a meal, you can't go wrong with this little guy. It will not cut a bean with larger seeds inside the pod so it only works with the optimal product. The price is right and I'm glad I have a couple in my kitchen drawer.

The Best Vanilla Bean Halfer Going
I saw someone use a bean slicer for halving vanilla beans in order to extract the seeds . That was it. I had to have one. I have not been one who has successfully achieved this with a knife, often missing that halfway mark, as well as the seeds. I make my own vanilla, using a handful of beans sliced in half, now by means of this great Krisk bean slicer, exposing but not extracting the seeds. They will naturally fall out over time, further enriching the vanilla. I add these beans to a jar (clean jelly type) of bourbon or dark rum. It's ok to cut the halved beans in half by length to stay submerged in the liquid, or so as not to use up all your liquor. Store at room temp away from light for at least 3 weeks. Love the slicer and the vanilla!

bean slicer
I have never used a bean slicer or french-er before, bought this as a backup to a crank french-er. When i bought it I thought from the picture that the end of the tool was to take off the bean tips. It works, but a it would work better if the end blade open and closed . Less risk of taking part of thumb tip. the french-er part of the tool is OK for a hand tool but not much better than a kitchen knife. Would help if manufacture would include some kind of instruction or even a picture of how to use.

Perfetto per un taglio sottilissimo dei fagiolini. Lavorioso, ma di grande effetto. Sembrano tagliatelle. .

Life changing device!!, well that maybe hyperbole. But a fantastic gadget, best kitchen gadget I’ve bought in years. I'm into sharp Japanese knives for cooking and have hand cut beans for years. I'd seen these bean gadgets and assumed they'd be crappy, but a recent glut of home grown beans meant I though it was worth it for a fiver. Wow, it's just so good. It perfectly takes off the string edges and easily slices the beans. My tip if you care; Despite the bean tip removing blade being very sharp, I personally think it's quicker to do that on a chopping board as you can do a whole bunch of bean tips in one go.
