I set this up a couple of times but didn't get the channels or full screen I had gotten with my old one. After a couple of months, I set it up again and then it died - no light - it was just dead. Worthless.

This little unit does exactly what I need it to do. The first one lasted 2 to 3 years, about all that can be expected of a cheap, probably untested, made in China, electronics item. The thumb drive makes a difference. The ‘high capacity ‘ one I chose did not work well at all. The one I have now works perfectly. In my first unit, the flash drive would blink when it is recording. That is what you would want. The one I have now blinks all of the time. But the converter box isn’t perfect. I works at what I consider to be the 90 to 95 percent level. Sometimes it just locks up. Just wait 1 minute and it resets itself. All considered, I would buy another and I recommend this item.

This get QAM - so it is able to read Cable Signals.I wanted something that would "Get" unencrypted Cable channels and this does,While the channels are mostly local - some are in 1080i.This beats getting the local channels over the air.

It allows to get the unlocked cable channels, but it gives them new channel numbers that I'm not familiar with. It also downloads many, many channels which are not viewable, so looking for a specific channel is like looking for a needle in the haystack. Maybe I need to do something different to correct this, but the user guide is not helpful.

The tuner would power up but nothing else worked the remote was cheap feeling and it’s probably not working and that’s why nothing else came up just very poor quality

Bought this for my daughters dorm room. University upgraded to tv signal thru their internet and we needed a QAM tuner because her tv was an older tv. The college internet provider wanted to charge $90 for a tuner so we found this one. According to the specs, this tuner was supposed to upgrade the signal to QAM signal but it did not work on our Vizio TV. Channel program instructions were hard to use. Instructions were very complicated. Was able to return with no issue.
