An entertaining action sequel
This is the third film in the "has fallen" series, so I'm not going into too much detail about the characters and circumstances. Whilst it can be enjoyed as a standalone movie, and doesn't draw heavily from the previous two, it won't be quite as involving without that connection from watching them.If you liked the other two films (and I did) then I think you will like this one. If you didn't, then you won't. Pretty straight-forward really. Here the plot is a bit simpler in scope and centred on Mike Banning as a character more than the scale of the threat. Despite dialling down the narrative the film is still as exciting and action-packed as it's predecessors, and remains an enjoyable romp.As ever with this series it has the odd CGI shot that isn't quite high enough to be convincing, but the action sequences remain visceral and tightly choreographed. The plotting is decent enough, as is the acting and general production. My opinion of it is that it is on par with the other films, and whilst not quite in the elites of the genre it has been a consistently entertaining series.Having watched this after the likes of 'No Time To Die', which has a mediocre plot, limp action and rather insubstantial personal drama, I found this much more rewarding. Perhaps my expectations were higher due to it being James Bond, but I found that film to be pretty crap. This, on the other hand, may not have the same swagger as Bond, or the sometimes desperately OTT villainous schemes as they try to go bigger and better, but I much preferred it in hindsight. It may not be up there with 007's best, or Jason Bourne etc, but for me I'd rather watch these three films than most of those better known, or critically higher rated, series.

Excellent special effects & quite gripping.
"Angel Has Fallen" In my opinion is another successful tense & thrilling "feanchise" film. This film has received a VERY mixed bag of reviews, some great, some not so great comments floating around from so-called self-described "movie critics". Paaah !! Only YOU can decided whether or not YOU like a film, take no notice of these self-described "movie critics" and take a risk; Watch a few films that the hacks don't like, because you may well be happily surprised now & again. But if you're still unsure after reading a hack's hatchet job attacking a film that you were previously tempted to buy, wait until it comes down in price to buy, or even wait for a "free to air" showing ON something Film 4 or ITV.Sorry Amazon friends, I will NEVER post ANY "spoilers" or in-depth analyses of ANY films. Suffice it to say, if you enjoyed the special effects & plot twists in the previous two films, "OLYMPUS HAS FALLEN" & "LONDON HAS FALLEN", then I can pretty much guarantee that you will enjoy this third installment "ANGEL HAS FALLEN" every bit as much.

Slightly Preposterous - Good Fun
Whilst I gave this a three star it's probably a 3.5 star film. Perfectly fine for a bit of mindless movie watching but, not the stuff of legend. The main problem in many ways is Butler who just can't pull off the action man bit as well as perhaps he could. He looks a bit knackered and old, yet steams through young special forces guys like they were junior age school children. And while we are supposed to suspend belief to an extent when watching a techno-thriller, the lead roll needs to look like action man not your slightly-past-it uncle. The story is of course nonsense and, like most in this genre of films, little more than a loose framework to allow a bit of heroic action. In this case an out of condition Scot with a dodgy American accent playing at being 007 light. What is fair to say is that the action is well done and well correographed. It's paced well throughout the film so that your interest does not wane.Morgan Freeman plays.....Morgan Freeman - sorry the US president - who has been put out of action for nefarious political machinations. I would add to that but it would spoil what small amount of plot there is and, given the film's shortcomings, that's a precious thing to hold onto indeed.Overall a good if not brilliant action film. If Butler is going to make any more then, he could do with spending a bit more time in the gym and using better make up...

Amazing twist on an amazing run of movies!
Having seen all of the previous "... Has Fallen" movies, I thought this would definitely be the next movie to watch. The title doesn't give any spoilers that some movies do and having not read the plot of the movie, I was unsure what turn the movie will take.Having watched just the title screen I could already see that this movie was going to take a different style of events as opposed to the previous movies, however I could see the plot already unfolding within 10 minutes of the movie starting. In comparison to the previous movies, this movie takes a completely different turn and was very unsuspected, although it still carried the character and personality of the previous movies in the trilogy.Overall, I would rate this one of the better movies of the year and stand true to my 5* rating. Gerard Butler upholds his strong and charismatic personality in the movie even during scenes that were completely different to what I have seen Gerard Butler act in before. An absolutely amazing twist on an amazing run of movies.
