'Bali Fever' Foundation Paper Piecing Quilt Pattern

I have used Judy Niemeyer patterns before, but this one was extremely hard to follow the directions. I ended up finding a different pattern to use to make a quilt for my son. The first one i used was fun and very one enjoyable to work on. I gave it to my son and his wife for a wedding gift. It was beautiful, and everyone loved it.I couldn't understand the directions on this pattern and also didn't want to use the bali pops for my fabric choice. There were no instructions on how much fabric to buy if you didn't want to use the bali pops. Wish the summery of the pattern would have said the difficulty of the pattern. Also, could have said a class would be helpful if i was to use this pattern. Now I have a $30.00 pattern that I probably will never use.

This was my first Judy Niemeyer pattern and I don't think I will ever do another one. I did use the "Bali Pops" that was provided in the class. The class started with the spike block and nothing else was explained. It took me two years to finish this quilt top because I had to put it aside to learn more about it. Now, I am ready to quilt it, but I do not see any quilting suggestions for it. If you are interested in one of Niemeyer's patterns, choose a table runner first and get the "hang" of the process, first. Most important is to read the entire pattern through before you begin. Then, by all means, follow the directions for organizing the fabric and pieces. The finished quilt is beautiful, but it was definitely a pain to make!

I did this pattern through a class with a Judy Niemeyer Certified Instructor. It was one of my first and it was great! I recommend a certified instructor when doing these patterns at first just to get comfortable. I recently did a new pattern of hers and the instructions were easy to follow on my own.
