Worked well!
Paired with a 25ft hose with 1/2” ID, drains easily without being concerned about the flow being too strong. I have river rock as my substrate and it got half of the funk stock at the bottom. If you’re changing water often enough, this should serve you well. However when I went to fill my 55 gallon tank, setting bucket on floor presented some challenges. Quick fix I put the bucket on top of a step ladder and we were running again. Flow was perfect, didn’t impact substrate on re-entry.

Absolutely worth it for a price like this
At first I was not sure if this would work and I felt hesitant to even put it in water even though its submersible but I actually did manage to find a hose from another product I bought from amazon that was trash for water cleaning and it fit on the fittings that come with this product. The hygger 400 comes with three fittings and I was impressed that this actually worked out, anyway the machine isnt very quiet which is fine but it does a stupendous job!! It not only absorbs the water but it did not disturb my substrate so cleaning was much much easier. I was able to get the entire job done in 2 hours. (Probably could have been sooner but I was fiddling with decor)So in a nut shell:Worth the money? YesSaves time in weekly water changes? YesDisturbs decor and substrate? NoEasy to use? YesComes with a hose? No.Comes with instructions? Yes.Can be safely submerged? Yes.I have two goldfish named Twin Flames and they reside in a 21 gallon tank.

A nice pump for water changes in aquariums.
I use these for water changes. My only struggle is when plants or sand get stuck in the intake. They have okay power for what I do and are a good bargain.

Cheap and unreliable
Was good while it worked. Only got to use it 3 times until the unit stopped working 2 weeks after my allotted return period. So now I am stuck with a pump that won't power on. Worked great for water changes on my small aquarium until the last time I tried using it and it was dead.

Aquarium vacuum pump
Why did you pick this product vs others?:For removing water from a 150 gallon tank and from an above ground pool. Great pump worth the purchase.

Absolutely revolutionized our waterchanges
Our use-case is: We have a 40gal fancy goldfish tank and we age the water in a companion tank (no livestock, just water + conditioner and a bubbler) for a few days between changes. We use a facet-based water changer (Google "Python water changer" for the idea, but we use aqueon w/ aftermarket 50ft tube after having issues with the green-plastic python design) to drain the water, but then we had a normal water pump to move it from the aging tank back into the GF tank.Whenever we'd get down to the last 2-3 gallons in the aging tank, our old one would need to be laid down, and maybe held in place and it couldn't even get the last 0.5 gallons anyway. What a pain. This one sucks from the bottom and can empty about 99.5% of the water out of our little 10 gallon water ager. I haven't had a need yet since we downsized our tanks (I had 10 at one point before moving), but I can think of many uses for a pump like this. I believe any intermediate+ fish keeper absolutely should keep this on hand even if they're not using it regularly. Emptying out a tank for a move or for a super-clean would have been SO much easier with this rather than trying to use my waterchanger and a turkey baster to get the last .5gal of water out of my tanks. If you need to fully dry a tank, run this until it is making so much noise you're worried, then tip the tank onto a slope so the water pools and pump out what you can, then lay a towel down for 10-30m and finally towel up the rest. That's maybe 5-10 mins of labor and the rest is monitoring. Highly recommended! Note, however, that the flowrate isn't high, so if you're on a tight timeline, you may want to upgrade to a higher GPH for 50, 75, 100+ tanks.

Doesn't last
It worked a few times now its died and wont turn back on. It was quiet but not nearly as powerful as they say. Sadly I wont be buying another. Not worth the money when I have a 7 year old aquatop pump that hasn't had an issue since day one. I only used this to do water changes from my brute trash can never touched substrate so I know its not that. I'm sad because I like the brand but I guess not everything they make can be as amazing as their lights.
