London Sketchbook: A City Observed

Wonderfully evocative work. The author’s love and care is evident in every sketch. If you visit London, this is a good keepsake to order after returning home.

Beautiful book.

I was not bowled over by this book, but I feel it is because of my own preference for certain styles of illustration. I am partial to alighter, a bit more color. This book provides a lovely tour of London sitting in your comfy chair,

Love Graham Byfield's illustrations as much as Fabrice Moireau's in other city Sketchbooks. A beautiful souvenir of a lovely city.

I bought it for my friend and didn't look at it for manner. But I'm worried about the quality of this book.And I was surprised that my friend called me at that night and spoke to me excitedly about how wonderful the book is! She said that this is amazing!

Of the three books of this series I own (Venice, Paris, London), this one is my favourite; if the Venice watercolours are by far the most beautiful of the lot, the London ones do capture the atmosphere and appearance of the city very very well. Besides, the text about London is much more interesting: without loosing a dreamy touch, it is full of informative anecdotes of London's past that have shaped it till today. A pleasure, spending time with this book feels like one of those walks in London in one of those days in which everything happens to be ideal and has the strongest possible flavour.

Bought this for my dad as a birthday present. Excellent quality and really intricate sketches and notes - the pages are sketchbook page consistency too. Very pleased!

I enjoyed the snippets of information and the illustrations are excellent. It is a very enjoyable book which is easily 'dipped into'.For the past fifteen years I have been working in Clapham and it was good to see areas outside 'main stream' London included.

I saw this book in a shop and loved it at once. Such amazing drawings, they show the city with much love and attention, helping to see the beauty of my home city - to see the usual buildings in a new light is just magical. Lovely lovely book.

This is a wonderfulbook with many pictures of interesting London scenes and the accompanying texts give so much background information. I spent several evenings just leafing through the pages and it has gone on to my bookshelf as a long term tenant as I am sure I will be returning to it many times to just browse or to check up on particular buildings.One of my better buys!
