Bandai Tamashii Nations Movie Realization Ashigaru Storm Trooper "Star Wars" Action Figure

I was finally able to get this Bandai Tamashii Nations Movie Realization Ashigaru Stormtrooper, and it’s exactly what I’d hoped it’d be. Seeing Star Wars characters in this Edo Japan style samurai armor makes a lot of sense. Aside from Joseph Campbell’s work like Hero with A Thousand Faces, George Lucas' Star Wars A New Hope was heavily influenced by Akira Kurosawa’s The Hidden Fortress. A lot of Ralph McQuarrie’s early original concept art for A New Hope had Japanese influence in character design (especially for Darth Vader who’s helmet shape remained samurai in style).The sculpt for this figure is amazing, there is tons of detail and sculpt work on this figure. The paint application is stellar as well, I love the wash used over the armor to give it an almost dirtied ivory look. Articulation overall is pretty fantastic, the shoulder pads are on a ball peg so they have good range of motion and don’t hinder the figure’s shoulder articulation at all. My only complaint about the articulation is the ankle rockers don’t work all that well so standing the figure in certain poses can be challenging, as well as the arms at the shoulder/elbow make it difficult to get the figure to hold the rifle with both hands. It can be done, but it will try your patience. The matchlock blaster looks great and that piece of the blaster rifle is articulated which is a nice touch. The sword sheaths nicely and that piece can be attached to the Stormtrooper’s belt. There’s also a selection of hands, 4 sets of hands in total. Take note Hasbro, start releasing more figures with alternate hands and heads. Charge more if need be, people will pay it. As far as I’m concerned, Bandai is the new standard for Star Wars action figures.Bandai and their S.H. Figuarts Star Wars line has been my favorite new line of the year, but then I got this figure. And while the S.H. Figuarts line might be more traditional or have better articulation (depending on the figure, the new Clonetrooper is a bit limited in the leg department) having a samurai figure of this caliber and quality is so awesome, let alone a Star Wars samurai figure. It’s also really cool to see a character so iconic for the last 40 years re-envisioned back to the roots of the concept and aesthetics of the original character design. The Darth Vader figure looks great, this Stormtrooper is stellar, Ronin Boba Fett is releasing now and in just a few months we’ll be getting a Sandtrooper and Emperor’s Royal guard. For any Star Wars collector or fan of collecting action figures, this is a great addition to your collection, there is literally nothing else like this currently on the market. If you can find one for $80 or less, pull the trigger. Once these are gone, they’re gone. Import figures like this are not mass produced like some of the figures state side. This figure comes FULLY APPROVED.

Wicked cool concept. Sculpting is well-detailed and paint applications are clean. The Stormtrooper has double-hinged knees and elbows which always wins in my book. The shoulder armor is articulated as well preventing any hindrance in posing. However, the figure's appendages are connected with ball joints, so watch out for they pull apart easily. A simple fall from a shelf onto carpet probably won't break anything, but the figure will come to pieces at the joints necessitating reassembly. The blaster, sword and scabbard seem to be made of a more brittle plastic, so watch out for that as well. Overall it's a great figure whose unique design captures the imagination.

Love these figures and how realistic and movable they are. A little pricey but so worth it.Perfect for gifts.

I have not had a good starwars figure in a while. I like samurai figure and starwars storm troopers. Put the two together and bingo. I absolutly like the detail that was put into this figure, the paint apps are nice and in my opinion- looks better than the picture. If your a fan of starwars and like samurai stuff, its something you'll like to have in your collection for sure.

This storm trooper is badass! Even though I disliked how difficult it is to pop some of the different pieces on I still find this to be an amazing product. The detail is phenomenal and the armor is really intriguing. Even small details like the nipples on the chest plate give the figurine it's own uniqueness.

They are for my kid, but I am amazed. The details and articulation are nothing like anything I grew up with. This treatment of the Star Wars characters is just awesome, especially when you realize that the samurai-stuff was the inspiration behind it all.

I bought this to go with the Tamashii Nations Samurai General Darth Vader. I can't begin to express how cool this figure really is. Stylistically, the marriage of the feudal Japanese Ashigaru armour with the timeless Stormtrooper uniform makes for one of the best looking character concepts I have seen. I bought an official figure though Amazon (beware: lot of made-in-China fakes are being sold on ebay which are noticeably inferior) and the quality of the build is very good - joints articulate freely yet hold their poses well, immaculate paint job and excellent details. A definite must-have for any collector of Star Wars themed memorabilia or anyone who just appreciates really cool stuff.

Je l'ai acheté il y a un moment, et depuis cette figurine trône sur mon étagère pour mon plus grand plaisir. Elle est de très bonne facture, ses articulations sont assez dures au début mais se font vite, et les accessoires permettent une variété de pauses.
