Ok
Not my favorite. Good idea and would but the caricatures did not hold me. Just felt pretty high schoolish. All these secrets she knows they are keeping and lies they tell her but she just can’t help herself kind of story. Adult age but no adults.

Tarot, Tea and a potato bar?!
Another amazing series by Sarah Piper! Tarot, teas and a potato bar?! Yes please!!I couldn't put this book down! The story line grips you from the very beginning and just doesn't let you go. Witches and Mages get a whole new look with this book, as they are feared by the community and not treated well by the police. There is quite a bit of mystery and intrigue in this book and I love that it wasn't all solved in the first book.Stevie is a well built character with many different facets. She's a strong woman and stands up for what she believes in. I love her empath ability and how she uses it. The men in Stevie's harem are wonderful and I enjoyed reading about the development of their characters and how they all grow together. This book is a slow burn, which I don't typically read, but the story line was so good that I really didn't notice it that much.I was super impressed with this book and I can't wait to see what happens in book 2!!

Enjoyable Magickal Journey
This novel is better than I expected: far more than another example of the “Boarding School Book,” so popular in the wake of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter series. I’ve read slews of them: unwitting girl (or boy) finds out about magic and is swept off to an academy that blows all mundane life out of the water. This novel, though, takes the boarding school idea as a jumping off point, and mixes it with other genres of YA, focusing less on the classes than on the complex, outside-of-class witchy history/mystery the heroine is called upon to unravel. This focus shares the lead with the heroine’s sexy but confusing relationships; of the four main leading men, Stevie has conflicting, deep feelings for three and sees the other as a devoted friend. But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The heroine, Starla Eve (Stevie) Milan, is the daughter of two discredited and disgraced magickal scholars in an alternate-universe America where magick is suspicious and deemed dangerous, so outlawed; where witches and mages are tattooed by the state when they reach 16; and where arrests of magickal folks accused of crimes always lead to sentences of death, no trial necessary. Stevie has long thought she would never attend Arcana, the nation’s only college for witches and mages. Her parents were tossed out in disgrace, after all. But now, through an unforeseen, jaw-dropping burst of events, she is on campus.Tasked with trying to decipher her seer mom’s prophecies, Stevie uses the Tarot to glean information about an unholy and ancient threat, all while finding herself wildly attracted to the men in her life. The farther she gets in her research, the more she longs for the guys. She finally learns she is the proverbial hub of the wheel, the center around which the men revolve and the force against evil they long to support and love. Will she find the evidence to stop evil? Will she choose one or more above the men whose goal is to protect her? The next book will surely give us more clues if not all the answers.Note: there is a serious, glaring proofreading error during Stevie’s first class with her sexy professor, Dr. Cass Devine. Instead of calling her Miss Milan, the character calls her Miss Devine. Oops. I hope it is corrected in future printings!

This is AWESOME!!!!
I always did love the Tarot & this book has reignited my curiosity . I've learnt more about the cards in this book than I have for ages. Loving it. I like Star, she's an AWESOME FMC, stubborn, mouthy, intelligent, beautiful, a walking, talking wet dream. Not sure about the guys, yeah they're hot, yeah they're all part of the plan, but they're GUYS & guys are idjits. Definitely keen to read more, quick question, does anyone know whether her Tarot pack is actually a real pack or a made up one, cos I'm kinda liking hers. This book rocks, totally worth reading

I devoured this book
I instantly fell in love with the characters and story. I loved how Sarah Piper weaved together tarot lore, reincarnation, extreme prejudice, and wonderfully inventive teas to create a uniquely compelling magical world. I am immediately downloading the next installment and can't wait to see how the story unravels.

Witches outlawed
Enjoyed book and reading about Stevie aka Starla Milan, we learn that witches and magic are illegal and Stevie is a witch. We follow her through her adventures and the meeting of the brotherhood, the 4 men she likes. Can't wait to reax the rest of the story.

Utterly Brilliant
I have to admit, the title, cover art and blurb almost completely put me off…but this is definitely a don’t judge a book by it’s cover scenario!Surprisingly spicy, original and complex. The whole ‘tarot’ card theme totally put me off at first but it was actually very interesting, I very much feel like book 1 is similar to watching the start of a chess game where you don’t know the rules, I can’t wait to see how all the pieces come together!

A disappointing, cheap, knock-off Hogwarts with zero relationship development
It started off so strong, I thought Stevie was kickarse but she mostly just rolls over to get her arse kicked. The relationships disgust me, no truth or trust, or anything that seems like a good start. Devane? Yuck. He’s the worst kind of teacher, humiliates his students to prove his power over them because he’s pathetic and petty. And he holds so much responsibility for hiding that stuff about Phaines. Ani is just flat background noise. Baz is okay, I guess, just cliched, boring and predictable. Kirin? The way he stalks her and then runs in the library is gross, and he’s almost as bad as Devane. And the near drowning incident? Oh sure, of course, no repercussions whatsoever. Totally normal. NOBODY EVEN REPORTS IT? It’s assault. Her mother was right, there is nothing good at that school. Seriously, they need her help but won’t give her even the most basic human rights.

loved this
This was an amazing read that I could not put down until I finished the very last word. The pace the book moved along was very comfortable which made for easy reading. The characters were out of this world and so real that you felt as though you knew them personally and the story, WOW, it was amazing. When you got to the end you were instantly wanting more. I cannot wait to read Book 2 in this wonderful series.
