Ok, so I am writing this review after 3 years of so of use. My wife bought this here on Amazon and loves it. Every time we have ice cream, she gets this scooper out. She absolutely loves it!However, she got hurt this past week at work, and I am trying to be nice and help out around the house. You know, dishes, and such. I had no idea that I wasn't supposed to put this scooper in the dishwasher. :-(It came out with a black watery substance on my hands when I picked it up out of the dishwasher, and when I went to pick it up, I thought to myself that this is not as shiny as when it went I put it in the dishwasher. When I said this from the kitchen, my wife asked those immortal words that I just hate; "What did you do?".I came back onto here to review when we bought this, and to get a replacement for my stupidity. It wasn't until afterwards that I was told and shown that I was not to put this into the dishwasher; but I have a new one coming now as I just bought the same unit we had so life will get back to normal.If you want a great scooper, get this one. Every party, this comes out. It could save your marriage!

The Kitchenry Antifreeze Ice Cream Scoop - Better Portion Control - Commercial Parlor Tested.....it states antifreeze ice cream scoop in your title this is false advertisement indeed, this is a cheap metal feeling ice cream scooper which is hollow no liquid inside to help defrost the ice cream it would make a dent in the ice cream I advise you to buy elsewhere that doesn't use false advertisement and for this company to change their title acccordinly I will be requesting a refund ASAP

I bought this because my freezer would always make ice cream extremely hard, and I often had to let the ice cream sit out for a few minutes before scooping it out. This scoop made scooping easy again. It glides through normal ice cream easily, and if you hold it in your hand for around twenty seconds to let it warm up, hard ice cream too. It makes perfect balls for ice cream cones, no matter what angle you scoop from.It can't be washed in a dishwasher, but since it is a simple shape without any crevices or removable parts, it is really easy to hand wash. Definitely get this if you frequently have hard ice cream, or you just want a great ice cream scoop.

Nothing fancy, a basic aluminum ice cream scoop. I am still looking for a replacement for my old Pampered Chef. We got an ice cream maker for Christmas so I bought a new ice cream scoop to go with it. Doesn't work very well on our hard frozen ice cream. I still like it better than the lever ones though. I think you get better leverage with this kind.

I have owned several ice cream scoops but most were very flimsy and no good when it came to hard ice cream. I have started making my own ice cream but when you have frozen it it becomes hard like a rock, which is why I was looking for a sturdier ice-cream scoop. I liked the idea of it getting warm by your touch and took a chance it would work. It does outwork regular ice-cream scoops and it does take a little bit but it does work and the ice cream just falls off the scoop into the bowl. I am pleased with this product it is well made and well worth the money.

From what it looks like, several sellers offer the very same scoop under a different brand and price and all are made by the same factory in China by the name Ekco. All have the very same print "Do not place in boiling water and subject to heat in excess of 140F/60C. This product is not to be used in the dishwasher". How is ""Nearly Indestructable" (spelling mistake in original text) going with that?Go for New Star Foodservice 35407 Commercial Grade Self Defrost Ice Cream Dipper Scoop for $6.95. It is the very same product.

I read all the reviews before I took a chance and bought this ice cream scoop. The idea seemed great and I felt that the reviews that where negative were from damaged scoops where for some reason there was no fluid in the handle to hold the heat. When I got mine it felt heavy so I tried it . It was useless and I tried it again last night I immersed it in hot tap water for several minutes and The took a container of Hagen Daz from the freezer I was very disappointed. First the Handle was very slippery (maybe a rougher surface would help). But I was able to get more ice cream out with a regular tea spoon than I got with the scoop and as I used the scoop it picked up the cold from the ice cream very quickly. I think it needs a complete redesign. More hand friendly and a much sharper edge for scooping. I ended up getting most of the ice cream out with my spoon while I reheated the scoop the second time. I gave it 2 stars because with work it may be able to scoop out ice cream directly from a freezer right now the ice cream needs about 15 minutes to soften before this scoop will work at all.

The Ice Cream Scooper arrived very fast - thank you! I also appreciated the email that you sent me explaining that it might help to place the scooper into warm water before use. I used it on the same day it arrived, just could not wait. Maybe I have very warm hands? Holding it for a minute or two was enough to smoothly slide the scooper through the ice cream and drop a perfect round ball of goodness into my dish.The only 'problem' that I had was that the first scoop melted a bit faster than the second or third. So I ate it faster.No problem at all!
