Great Plane
This thing is fantastic, cut quality is great little to no snipe and so quiet I can talk to someone right next to me in a normal speaking volume even when its cutting or just idling. I only whish I knew about the Jet Black series before buying it.

perfect order and delivery
Planer arrived 2 days after ordering and crate looked as though no one touched it upon arrival. ABF freight absolutely super in quality care. Machine flawless in appearance. very easy to read owners manual, fine machined in/out trays, very smooth and dull mirror finish. Going to wax bed tonight and plug this baby in. Will continue report after a few trial runs with hard and soft woods. Delivery and ordering went perfect. Will continue once used!2ND PART AFTER DELIVERY.I decided to wire this giant professionally so in came my electrician. We wired machine from on/off panel to wall plug with 10 gauge grounded wire and dedicated circuit 220V w/50 amp breakers. Maybe a little over kill, but just wanted a powerful and good and safe delivery of current. Now for the fun part. A machine of this size commands respect so a brief double check of parts was in order. On went the machine and in went my first piece of red oak, 8"X6'. I am amazed at the speed and absolute perfect face after 2 or 3 runs. Honestly, I have used a 13" planer for 15-17 years, which has performed wonderfully, but is getting tired. I have tried rock maple, oak, cherry, walnut, pine, etc and all have absolute perfect finish. Just a slight touch of my palm sander and the wood is ready for projects. It is also very low on the sound db's. So low, 3 of us while watching kept a conversation as this planer was hard at work. Absolutely no snipe ( a bit hairy to install and adjust the entry/exit tables). This is without a doubt the best wood planer I have ever witnessed in my 68 years.

Awesome planer, makes my life so much easier now.
It's too bad that one bad review has brought this products star rating down as I can't understand why anyone would rate this poorly. It's a fantastic piece of machinery that works extremely well. I'm a hobbyist wood worker and I imagine it seems strange for someone like me to purchase a beast of a machine like this, but it is probably one of the heaviest used tools I have in my shop. I love how quickly it mows through wood and does it effortlessly. It was not exactly the most fun thing to get power to as the cord it comes with is extremely short. You will probably need to make yourself a new one.It goes up and down well and is way more quieter than my last planer (that popular Dewalt Bench planer - that thing was crazy loud) The planer as others have said was indeed difficult to get off the pallet. I didn't have a forklift so I had to get creative on how I placed this on a mobile cart. But once it was in there, it moved around easily enough.I highly recommend this planer if you have the funds to buy it. You really won't go wrong.

20" wide by 8" thick, that's what this unit can handle. Seem to get this question a lot from potential buyers
LOVE! LOVE!! LOVE!!!....... did I say how much I LOVE this piece of equipment! For the noise reduction alone, I would buy this unit. I am just a small woodworking hobbyist, and Yes, it's considerably more than a $300 bench top. That bench top planer just about killed my enthusiasm to go to the next level of woodworking. So now, instead of being stuck with just using the thickness of store bought lumber. I can now, quickly, and much more quietly, plane my wood for more versatile projects. I absolutely hated the thought of having to plane any amount of lumber. NOW, I look forward to using this machine. It works effortlessly. Lets go back to the noise. I had to use double protection (ear plugs and defenders over them) with my bench top model, it was ridiculously loud. I could, but not recommended, use this unit without ear plugs. More importantly, I can say something to someone in the shop while using it, and they can hear me (that's a safety thing !).UPDATE: Oct 2018 - I've had this piece of equipment in my shop for about 18 months now. The romance is still very much alive. This unit has NEVER let me down, superior performance. I almost buy oversize wood just to plane it down for the "fun" of it. Just try to knock the grin off my face when its in operation. Jett, you hit a homerun with this product. THANK YOU !

Fantastic machine
This machine is a beast. It’s quiet and mows down boards. They come out almost smooth enough to nut need sanding. Sooo glad I bought this vs one of the bench top planers. No snipe even when I’ve ran 16 foot boards through it
