LOVE it! a great upgrade from the 4000 model...
everything the 4000 has, this has too, except better. i thought i'd miss the risers at the back of the keyboard (when extended they lift the back of the keyboard towards the user), but i got over that quickly. SUPER quiet compared to the 4000, especially the space key which you almost need earplugs to use on the 4000. keystrokes feel better with great actuation force and tactile feedback. the keyboard is slightly smaller in dimensions so the keys are closer together, especially the F keys which are right next to the QWERTY/main part of the keyboard just above the non-10-key numbers. This is easy to get used to and great for gaming as they are easier to reach in a pinch. yes, i know, a membrane keyboard for gaming? well show me a mechanical ergo keyboard with an on-board 10-key and i'll try it NOW, no matter the price. THEY JUST DON'T EXIST :( i'm an accountant by day and use the same rig for work as for gaming, and i'm not about to have two keyboards to clutter my workspace. i NEED the on-board 10-key. maybe one day i'll have a desk big enough for two rigs and a dedicated gaming keyboard. bottom line: well worth the higher price compared to the 4000 and a great all around keyboard!

Ergo Keyboard
I have tried other keyboards, and I come back to this one. I have an original one from when they 1st came out and it just will not quit. It is slightly larger than this one, but this, the keys are easy to push, not to noisy, the wrist pad is soft. They only thing that it needs are feet on the back. I prefer to have my keyboard raised just a bit in the back for a little bit more of a slant, this one does not have that, so I just lean it up on my laptop and that works just fine. Overall, I would recommend this keyboard, plug and play, no software or drivers to install. It is wired, but if that doesn't bother you, it is a good value, nice keyboard.

Best ergonomic keyboard (from another ergonomic keyboard junkie)
I almost passed on this keyboard because of some bad reviews. Luckily, I decided to buy it as a cheap option for office keyboard and it is worth every penny. I am an academic writer, so I spend my day typing. I suffer from a lot of pain on my wrist, which was seriously minimized since I started using ergonomic keyboards 6 years ago. I started with the simpler versions sold by Microsoft and was faithful to my Microsoft Sculpt for four years after that. The sculpt is a great option and I would buy it again, but it is pricey. This mechanical version has an even more comfortable design and the keys are slightly deep, but they do not offer resistance, making them super comfortable. The bulky and big part is another feature that I love. I have enough space between keys and a strong keyboard to support my wrists. Microsoft also added extra subtle curves from the front to the back part of the keyboard (in addition to the dent) and I am loving that as it decreases the tension on my wrists even more (my hands do not have to go up and down as much to reach certain keys). In addition to that, no more concerns about replacing batteries and producing more garbage/spending more money. I am sure I will settle for this keyboard for as long as it lasts or, at least, until Microsoft releases and backlit ergonomic keyboard. I have a Logitech Ergo that was a gift and I consider this Microsoft ergonomic keyboard way better, considering that the Ergo keys offer more resistance, which I do not like, in addition to the annoying noise. Important: the keyboard comes with a riser for the front part. I struggled a lot to find this info.

Great for the price point. Comfortable for typing, not so much if you need to use mouse a lot
Attached photo of this keyboard with the one it replaces (Microsoft Sculpt) to compare. This is my first split keyboard. It does take a couple of days of getting used to new locations for some of the keys due to the expanded size compared to the old keyboard. I use the Windows key to switch between keyboard languages quite often and I kept hitting the 'menu' key. Similarly I have the same problem with the Backspace key where I kept hitting the '\' key and the 'Esc' key where I kept hitting the '~' key. The lack of spacing with F-keys doesn't bother me much as I need to reach out a little to get to those keys and I almost never need to use them. When I need to spend a lot of time typing, it does feel more natural and less strain on the wrist. The wrist pad feels very nice and soft yet has firm support. I like softer bounce keys like Surface Pro keyboard cover instead of the old typewriter crispier type that is typical of gaming keyboards. The bounce on this keyboard feels heavier than the Sculpt keyboard, but good enough. Now the reason I don't give this 5-star rating is because of the width. I do spend a lot of time on the mouse too. When I am in that mode, I am finding that my hand angle now have to open quite a bit more. With the sculpt keyboard, my right arm used to angle in more for the keyboard but straight for the mouse. With this keyboard my arms feel more natural with slight angled-in placement on the keyboard but angled-out about 30 degrees on the mouse. I would shift the keyboard to the left and moved the mouse in when I do need to be on the mouse for longer period. I understand that the split does require the additional spacing in the middle, but maybe the arrangement of the number pads, arrow pads, and other keys could have been improved to reduce the width. In summary, if you do a lot of typing and like softer bounce, this keyboard is great. If you spend more time on the mouse, maybe look for a smaller sized one.

Really pleased with this keyboard. Looked into an ergonomic keyboard at the recommendation of my doctor. This keyboard is super comfortable, nice click noise, and shortcut keys are awesome! The option to add additional height underneath was also appreciated. Would be even better if it was wireless, but the cord is long and works well.
