I do a lot of deep woods walking / hiking in central Florida swampy areas, and this works great!I don't use chemical aerosols as I really dislike the fumes. Deet sort of spritzes provided the best solution for years. Even with those, I felt myself racing for a shower when I got home as the smell annoys me. Also, while mosquitoes generally would not land, they'd still buzz me constantly which is almost as annoying.With the Murphy's balm, I seem almost invisible to mosquitoes. I've tested on multiple hikes including deep woods in a swampy area. I even see mosquitoes, but they simply don't bother with me. I use it on my arms, neck, face and ears without the irritating odor.I personally love the smell. For me, it's practically an aromatherapy and gets me going but tastes there may vary. Reading the ingredients will give you a very strong idea of the scent, but I imagine nearly everyone will either not mind it or even enjoy it.There's no trade-off with the chemical sprays. I typically figure the natural stuff is more pleasant but Deet stuff will work better. That is not the case here. It works better than the chemicals for me and in relatively extreme, woodsy-swampy rural environments.

This product is AMAZING! I took a much needed vacation to Bali for almost 2 weeks, going on hikes and various excursions, in and out of water, and while others at the retreat reported mosquito bites, I literally didn’t have one! The smell is somewhat lemony w/ a light herbal note, not chemical based or overpowering & it literally lasts all day, only applied to my arms and legs, but I did make sure to reapply after the water temple and water activities, and if I went out again in the evenings, I did put on a fresh coat after showering from being out all day. Definitely recommend!

This is really good at keeping mosquitoes away. However ...bees seem to love it. Not stop bees landing all over me at the lake and would not leave me alone. I recommend using only at night since bees won't be out

I wear this stuff nonstop in the summer. Where I live, it’s very rainy and humid, perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes that carry diseases. I’m not trying to get bit. I use a makeup spatula and dog out a small amount, and then apply it around the “pulse points” like it’s the finest cologne- it does a pretty good job, in conjunction with Murphy’s incense for the same purpose.

The lemongrass scent is nice but doesn't last. The price is way too high for a product that doesn't work. Also, I had ordered a single tin of the balm to try it out. On the day it was due to arrive, I got a notice that it might not arrive until a month later. Cancelled the order and ordered the available two-pack. When it arrived, it was just two single tins tossed together in a plastic bag. Really? Don't waste your money.

I like this insect repellent balm because it does not stain clothing or cause any irritation when applied to the skin. I apply it by hand onto my t-shirt, pant legs, and pant cuffs before I go outside for garden work or if I am going to sit outside for some event. It seems to work for me, and I am like a magnet for mosquitos. It is worth the price, and it goes a long way.

LOVE THIS PRODUCT!! I have always hated the smell of bug spray but this is a GAME CHANGER! This balm smells so good and not chemically at all! My husband and I applied this balm before going on a mile hike and never got bit by a single bug! We didn’t even see a mosquito near us. I did cover all areas of exposed skin (legs, arms, and neck) but it worked even better than I thought it would! This stuff is amazing and I would highly recommend trying it out! 10/10!
