It’s a battery
It’s a rechargeable battery! To be fair I’ve had my original battery for 12 years and it got down to 2 hours playback time, new battery is back to about 5 hours, so a great improvement

A complete dud
Arrived and put in the headphones to charge but simply didn't charge up and made the headphone charge light act strangely. I tried several times to get this charging properly but didn't work. The battery that came with the headphones works fine just runs down quickly - this replacement was a complete non starter so cannot recommend at all. Either I am very unlucky or some of these reviews are not telling the full picture. Will try a different brand.
