these came up too small and I gave them away. Bought Sketcher G Walk 5 and find these moe adequate for painful feet/

No, they're just a really comfy soft of trainer-shoe. The upper is a black stretchy material and the lower part is a normal trainer type sole. I'd recommend them especially in my case as I have large feet (size 8.5). Really comfy to wear.

Q: Why are these not availale in size uk 8? - that is not overly big and i know plenty of women who are a uk size 9 and would love these.

I would guess they’re from Asia. Women’s sizing is smaller as the average size for an adult woman is much smaller than most of Europe. Finding an Asian woman with size 8 feet would be like finding a British woman with size 12.
