Diablo: The Black Road - Book Two: Blizzard Legends

I didn't expect much from this book, after all it's written about the backstory of a computer game. I did expect familiar territory, but what I wasn't expecting was that the game's immersive backstory would be picked up and handled so well. There was much less monster-whacking and much more interesting inner conflicts than I expected. The particular demon of the book is a nasty one, and it had some deep things to show about the way human beings respond to what they want to hear.The main character has abuse issues with his father and unlike many novels that deal with abuse issues, that wasn't resolved with a pat answer. He grew certainly, but the book didn't end with everyone happily all right. Yet the ending was interesting in its way.I'm enjoying the series and will probably get more of these, but it wouldn't surprise me if "The Black Road" turned out to be one of its lasting high points. If I'd never played the game, I would've really enjoyed this novel.

The beginning of the book is satisfying with quite a bit of adventure, but halfway through the boom becomes slow paced and uneventful.The characters lack depth and emotion. The main character is repetitive and uninteresting for being the protagonist.The dialogue between characters is excruciatingly slow, with conversations dragging on without any substance added.

I love books that start with some injection of rush. This book lacks one. Although it is related to the game, it offers very little conection with the original (game) story, maybe 2 pages at most. The plot is slow and (rarely) a little contradictory. From my point of view, the end is not as good. The three stars because of the game series and because the story usually follows unexpected paths.Not a book for non-Diablo fans.

Love the diablo series books. A must read for any blizzard fan.

If you like Legacy of Blood the first book you might like this. It starts out slow and then pulls you in, gets a little annoying with the pirate character arrre ye and other words but deserves 4 out of 5.

The black road being evil and bringing people to believe in it was pretty realistic. The characters were well thought out and made you to want them to succeed. The book was written well

The book along with the other two in the series arrived damaged. I wanted to call but found no number and I wrote an email but got no response. My son likes to keep his books in good shape but this one arrived already damaged!
