My oldest two kids (aged 7 & 8) have been getting into board games lately. So naturally I went straight to Amazon to order some, happy as a clam to encourage them to do literally anything else besides having their faces stuck in a tablet, or playing videos games on the Xbox and wasting their time away on the computer. They requested all kinds of games.. monopoly, chess, checkers, twister, and many others. While we were browsing Amazon together, a wooden set of tic tac toe caught their eye. We have always played it on paper, on the fly like on the back of a receipt or scratch paper. But the wooden sets looked so… aesthetic. The wood looks so sleek, and I imagine feels a lot nicer in the hand than plastic. So I started browsing for more options to find one that was high quality but also affordable. I found this one. It is small which is perfect. I didn’t want it taking up a lot of space on a tabletop, and it can be tucked away easily, and also brought along with us in the car for long trips. It’s actually really nicely made. The wood is perfectly smooth, free of any flaws or defects, and is actually really sturdy. All of the X’s & O’s are perfectly uniform… all smooth, and exactly the same size and width. They all lay flat in the box side by side and the top of the tic tac toe board nestles inside the box on top of the pieces for storage. It all fits together snugly. It is a small, quality piece. We have had a lot of fun playing together. My kids love to make bets with me now and wager things if they can win a game against me. Like yesterday morning while we were getting ready for school, my daughter pulled it out and said “real quick play me in tic tac toe and if I win, we don’t have to go to school.” I had no plans of letting her stay home but I knew I would win, so I obliged, and of course I won (wasn’t gonna let her beat me that time) and while she was disappointed she didn’t get to stay home, the simple act of playing a quick game with me in the morning put her in a good mood. We played another round right after and I told her all bets were off, neither of us stood to gain or lose anything, we just wanted a quick round just because.. and to my surprise she actually won. I couldn’t believe it. Here I was, this whole time thinking that it was an unbeatable game for them (unless I let them win) because I’m a grown up and I’m smarter than them, but I guess I let my ego get the best of me because before I knew it, it was my turn and she had me cornered in two different places on the board. It didn’t matter what move I made, I wasn’t going to get tic tac toe and she could make her winning move in either of two different places. She had me beat fair and square. I was just relieved we hadn’t wagered a day home from school on that particular game or else I would have been really screwed!! This set turned out to give us a lot more than just the instagram worthy aesthetic I was expecting. We have had a ton of fun together and it has helped them to learn not only how to win, but also to lose too. My son (7 yrs) is a bit of a sore loser but with each round we’ve played together, he has gotten better and better about not being so upset about losing. Now it doesn’t even phase him and he is quick to reset the board for another round, determined to win the next one. These old school games are a lot more valuable than some ppl give them credit for, especially nowadays. This is way better than any digital version, and way better than paper and pen. And I love the time I’m spending with my kids free from devices.

I got this for my grandson who loves to play the game. This game allows us to play it anywhere without paper and pencil. Also, it has a great case, so all the pieces stay with the game.

Cute and fun

I got this as a gift for my wife. She loves the gift, and we have spent many hours playing it, it seems to be made of good quality. However, I would like to mention that the lid seems to be a bit warped.

Fun travel game and it will be a good gift for my brother in-law. It is well constructed.
