One of the best books dealing with the subject of grief and loss of a spouse that I have read.
This book is very well-written. The voices of the two authors come through clearly. I found the information to be so helpful for someone experiencing the grief process after the death of a spouse. All the important topics were covered. I have read the entire book once and some parts of it twice. It is a book I probably will re-read again because there are so many helpful ideas and so much information included that I most certainly will gain something new from each reading. I highly recommend this book.

Recommended read for those who have lost a spouse
Having been in this situation I found the book dead on in its observations and recommendations. The journey from grief to gratitude is not always easy but the authors offer some well-grounded suggestions for making the transition. It was also useful to read how others in their circle of family and friends viewed and dealt with the transition. Made me aware that not everyone deals with an event like this in the same way and that we must be sensitive to each situation. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who finds himself/herself in this difficult and painful situation.

Really liked the way both Fred & Jeri answered and told how they deal with their feelings. I was married 41 yrs and my husband died of instant heart attack. Four yrs later married to a widower for 12 yrs then he died. Now married 2 yrs to my husband who was also a widower. God has given me 3 of the most wonderful husbands and very happy. I know Fred & Jeri and they were able to put words from their heart into a great book.

Transcending Grief
I first read this book to better understand the process of grieving the death of one's spouse, having fallen in love with someone after his wife of 39 years passed away. The second time I read it, though, I saw it through different eyes, thinking of how we move on after any loss in our lives: death, divorce, illness, lost friendship, etc. The Abrams' journey is a beautiful testament to the power of gratitude in the face of devastating loss. The Bible says, "In all things, give thanks;" this is nearly impossible in the midst of soul-wrenching grief, but is absolutely necessary to move through it. This book is an excellent resource for healing and regaining a sense of hope; I will share it with everyone I know who is dealing with personal loss.

Comforting read!
I lost my husband several months ago. One of the other reviewers had said they couldn't put this book down. That's how I felt about it. It was comforting. I gave a copy to a friend of my who just lost his wife and to another friend of mine who just lost her husband.

Heart to heart
Incredibly open and honest about difficult and very personal experiences. Their wisdom is pertinent on many levels and their advice is straight from the heart.

Great read
Pastors need the insight from this couple as they work with veterans and their families. I hope they do another book as they continue to grow in their love and faith.

It was a gift to a friend. I didn't get to read, but she liked it. She has not said anything more than that to me so far.
