tablespoon & teaspoon vs. Tablespoon & teaspoon
This book, and eating style are excellent. I've been eating this way, without recipes for 1 month and lost 15 lbs and feel great, not hungry or grouchy at all. I highly recommend these books by Sisson, especially the cook books. Read the paperback book first to understand what you are doing. People will come to you and ask what I'm doing to lose weight, because the weight loss is noticeable. If you've read the paperback, you have the answers to all their curious-interested questions, and sometimes condemning-ignorant questions, too. Referring to the "Standard American Diet" as SAD usually gets a laugh. If you are the type of person who doesn't care about they "why" just the "how" then you can get away with the cookbooks & some additional creativity on your part & maybe supplement with an internet search for specific item recipes. But be ready for curious people who knew you before asking you after how you are getting into shape. My one complaint about this book is that the print in the cookbook can cause some miserable COOKing and Food Prep FAILS...if you are not paying close attention. In a list of ingredients, these two words - tablespoon and teaspoon look so similar, usually, but the typefaces of these words in these two books, make the tablespoon and teaspoon EXTRA SIMILAR. The typeface does not use a Capital T for Tablespoon. It is very easy to mistakenly add too much or not enough of a particular ingredient. I speak from experience with this mistake, and I am a great reader & good recipe follower. It is the typeface & lack of Capital T, for Tablespoon, that I normally rely on in every other cook book or recipe I own or use. My solution - I used a little pen to put capital "T" on all the tablespoons, turning them into Tablespoon. This way it looks more like we were taught in school & every other recipe on the planet:tablespoonteaspoonteaspoontablespoontablespoonvs.TablespoonteaspoonteaspoonTablespoonTablespoonIf you have good eyesight and never make this error, then the cookbooks by Sisson are without fail - yum yum yum recipes. Go for it. Highly recommend. If you do have a tendency to be in a kitchen with less than ideal writing, have to look at recipes from farther away that you'd read a book, or are just glancing back and forth with the recipe - then mark the Tablespoons. Else you will have some funky tasting and cooking stuff sometimes. Both of his cookbooks have this tablespoon-teaspoon issue.

BEST COOKBOOK EVER!
This is the best cookbook ever! There is an introduction paragraph to each receipe, simple list of ingredients, and clear, concise directions on how to mix the ingredients. Even more spectacular are the bright, bold, colorful photographs of each receipe, showing first, the ingredients, then mixing the ingredients, and finally the end product. The added benefit of this cookbook is the healthy receipes that help you lose weight and make eating exciting. Each receipe is full of the foods your body will love. It's like each receipe is a work of art, and you are the artist putting all the yummy ingredients together for a tasty, colorful, finished dish that you just love to eat!I have just lost 22 pounds on the Paleo, or caveman diet, which is not really a diet, but a lifestyle of eating fruits, vegtables, lean meats and fish, and nuts. The life style cuts out the grains, dairy products, beans, gluten, sugar, salt, and in the process helps your body loose the excess weight it does not need. My blood pressure and cholesterol, have all gone down. This cookbook helps me to eat this new lifestyle. I am eating, and loosing my weight at the same time!I have recommended this book to all my friends, and those who have bought it, all have had the same results. We all are eating healthy food, using the wonderful receips in this book, and enjoying every minute.Just a side note, I made the delicious Peach Clafouti on page 250, and used too small a pie dish and spilt some of the liquid on the pages of the book. The pages are covered in something that makes it possible to spill something on the page, and wipe it off, without messing up the pages! How great is that!My wife, Maryellen, is on a mission to cook every receipe in the book, just like the lady in the movie about Julia Child and her cookbook. In fact, my wife has Julia Child's cookbook, and likes this cookbook even better! Julia cooked with lots of butter and heavy calories, and fat in her receipes. There are great cooking tips in Julia Child's cookbook, but this cookbook is filled with healthier, tasty receipes, with photos that make you just want to cook up all the receipes!I am going to buy a copy of this cookbook for all my family and friends for Christmas gifts it is so fantastic. I also appreciate the quickness that Amazon mailed me my book. Amazon has the best prices, and best customer service of all. That just wants me to keep coming back, and especially with cookbooks that are as great as this one. Thanks Amazon! Maryellen and Larry Lehigh

Good recipes, but too many pictures
I've been following a Primal Diet since 2/2010 and was very excited to get this cookbook. For once, here's a cookbook that fulfills all of my diet choices without me having to adjust the recipes to fit what I eat. What I've tried from this book has been good-I'm a huge fan of the pumpkin nut muffins and LOVE the Enchiladas recipe (FYI-steep learning curve to making the egg-white tortillas, but great once you do!)Here are my issues:1. Mark Sisson has been working on this cookbook for a long time and asked people on his blog to contribute recipes. A lot of those recipes that ended up on the blog (and are AMAZING) didn't make it into the cookbook. While this means that there are different recipes in the book, I really wanted to have some of those other recipes more easily on hand.2. There are a TON of color pictures in this cookbook. While I find pictures of how something should look helpful, giving me a picture of all the ingredients grouped together on a plate is just a waste of space! I didn't pay for pictures, I paid to get great recipes.3. They need a better editor! The Enchilada recipe that I love so much doesn't give a temp for the oven--they only tell you to cover the dish with foil and bake it for 20 min. I've had to play around to figure out what works to get the dish done in 20min (it isn't 350). You might think I'm being nit-picky, but this isn't the only recipe that's missing information. The gist of this is, the recipes that I've made are good, I just wish there were more of them and that they had complete cooking information. It's a great place to start if you're new to this diet. Also go to Mark's website: [...] for recipes as well.

Cook yourself up a treat
I'll be completely honest, this is another cook book with a variation on meals! That's said, it is written well with great pictures and ample meal choices. If you are dedicated then will be immensely helpful in following a primal diet however if not then it is still a good addition to your cookbook collection.

Healthy Yumminess!
Great recipes, and easy to follow directions. Slightly labour-intensive, but then, if it's healthy, it isn't going to come in a packet. Is it? Everything we've tried has been LUSH!!

Basic book with great recipes.
Recipes are all in lb which can get annoying, but there is a great list here of healthy recipes. It's a basic book, (ie. nothing fancy), but it has some great recipes!
