I misplaced the plate for my MeFoto BackPacker and so I bought this 2-pack for $14.99 since I thought the $28 for a single genuine MeFoto plate was too much. That makes these plates about ¼ of the price.Comparison to the Original MeFoto Plate:The good news is that this is virtually identical to the original 50mm MeFoto Plate I lost. There are only 2 real differences. 1. It comes with a screw that accepts a hex key in addition to the standard quarter method (they also include 2 sets of hex keys which is great). 2. The plate narrower by a few mm. I measured this at 38mm. With a screw-type head, like that found on the MeFoto heads, this will not be a problem. However, with a clamp-type quick-release head this could make it too narrow. For example, I know this doesn’t work on a Really Right Stuff headOther than that, everything about it feels the same. This isn’t a “good enough for the price” situation, this is simply functionally identical (for a MeFoto tripod) and ¼ of the price.The only negative I have about this plate is the screw. I prefer the D-ring screws since I find them much easier to use than keeping a quarter or hex key in my pocket. If you never plan to take the plate off of your camera then you’re OK, otherwise I would replace the screw with a D-ring. I purchased the following 5-pack for $7.99 and they work well with this plate on a Canon DSLR. I haven’t knocked off a star for this since it is clearly shown in the product images and the original MeFoto plate didn’t have a D-ring either. It is virtually identical to this product, but I’ve been disappointed by plates in the past and didn’t want to be stuck. Happily, I like both plates! (Even although Amazon sent me the wrong plate) Fotasy Arca-Swiss Type Quick Release Plate with Premier Cleaning Cloth (Black) There are only really 4 differences between this product and the Fotasy plate: 1. The grooves on the side are a different shape, but both work with most arca-swiss clamps. I have an image of this. 2. The Fotasy plate comes with a D-ring screw. 3. The Fotasy plate is a bit thinner in the middle, so it requires a shorter screw. 4. The Fotasy plate is 2mm wider, which (in my experience) works with a wider variety of arca-swiss clamps.In the end, they are extraordinarily similar, but I think my favorite out of the box is Fotasy but I like the Ivation better with the replacement D-ring screws.

Bought these to be able to change between different lens/body combinations quickly while on vacation. The heaviest combination I used was the Sigma 120-400mm with a Pentax K3ii+ external grip. I left one of these mounted on the 120-400mm tripod mount, the other on the body/grip mount and then the original that came with the tripod (Mephoto roadtrip) on the second body. I was never concerned about the mount stability on the tripod or the plates. They are well machined and I'm not sure I could tell them apart from the OEM plate. Very stable.I did buy the D-ring screw adapter based on some of the reviews, but because I wasn't moving the mount b/t bodies/lens, I didn't end up using them. It's also not a big deal to use a coin or screwdriver to tighten.

I put these on my bigger lenses (400mm and 600mm) so I don't have to keep switching my release plates every time I change my lenses. They work good, although you might need to know that they are not an exact fit - but they work well for me on my Canon 60D and MeFoto tripod.

The Mefoto Roadtrip Tripod has quickly become my go-to travel tripod. Purchasing these extra plates was a no-brainer. I use multiple camera while traveling and keep a plate attached to each. It's much more convenient that taking a single plate off of one camera and then attaching it to another camera. I use these plates with a Sony FDR-AX100 and a Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH4. They work great for each and should likely work with most other cameras and camcorder that have that "screw-type" tripod hole on the bottom. I liked how this kit came with hex keys as well. Nice touch!

These Quick Release Plates can be made much better with the simple improvement of changing out the screw on the bottom of the plate. The one that comes with it cannot be tightened without the use of a coin or screwdriver. This screw should have a knurled surface and a small flip up tab that allows you to QUICKLY screw and unscrew it to the camera with no tools and with wet hands. Make this simple fix and my rating goes from a 4 to a 5.

I've been using these for a while now, it's a good cheap alternative to the official release plate. It doesn't have the center line-up line, but not a big deal. Just like the factory one, downside is you need a tool or a coin to tighten and loosen it. But since now I have one for every camera, I don't really need to take it on and off.

Good value for the price. Is it the best out there. However, it is what I expected for the price.

I have a Me foto backpacker tripod and I wanted some extra plate so I didn't have to switch them out on my cameras. These seem to work well with everything I have tried them on. Good plate, good value
