ION Party Starter Portable Bluetooth Speaker With Built-In Light Show

This was my first Bluetooth speaker. I was never sold on the idea of portable speakers because of their poor battery life, their distorted sound, and the price tag. Plus it was just something else just to lug around.I bought this as a gold box deal a little over a month ago and I can say the the battery life is astoundingly long lasting.I have gotten a max of 5 hours out of it with the lights on. Without lights close to six.The lights are interesting but bright. Make sure you don't place on a table and get into everyone's eyes, set it just out of the way to keep from everyone getting irritated, or just turn it off. The patterns they create are to the music only they are best played to electronic or some danceable music, forget country and rap it begins pulsing uncontrollable while trying to keep up.The sound is great, making it too loud makes it jump around or create a distorted bass. Dropped it once and still works fine.Overall, what really sets this device apart is it's lights and portability. The price tag for mine was cheaper with the deal but I would still pay for it full price if I had to. It is a novelty item great for kids and adults alike. Will probably be buying a couple of these for Christmas gifts.

This is a relly fun device. We rarely use the speaker as it is pretty marginal and you do not need to use it to produce a stunning light show. Most parties really do not need starters, they need extenders. I can't tell you how many times we have brought this out during a party. Every time people wre amazed and stoked and it always increases the energy in the room. This will not work in a really big room or ballroom but works very well in most houses.

The lights are great, especially considering it is such a small device, and the sound is loud enough for such a small device, but it has no depth, or no bass. You can't expect much bass sound out of a device like this, but I prefer the "Ion Audio Party On Ultra-Compact Bluetooth Speaker with Built-In Party Lights" instead. It has just enough more depth, or bass, to the sound to make it both a dazzling light show, and very acceptable sound . . . for such a small device. (Both units have bluetooth and AUX IN, and the light show is controlled separately on both units also.)

So impressed. I didn't think I'd be this excited about the product I was skeptical to say the least. The light show is wonderful. It's very vibribrant even an a pretty big space the lights aren't faded and could easily be used for a house party if it's placed somewhere high enough. It only has one setting and that's a sound response light show. Speaking of carefully place, it has that type of grip the sticks to smooth surfaces but isn't sticky and it works very well. As for the sound the most important part of a portable speaker it very loud. This was the biggest thing I was weary about with this product. This price is ridiculous for the quality your getting with this product. As far as clarity it's not as amazingly crisp as some of the more pricey brands but I would easily pay 40 bucks for this product . Based on the sound clarity and volume as well as the awesome light show. This is easily My BEST BUY OF THE YEAR. And most definitely on my Christmas gifts list.

UPDATE: The quality of sound detoriarated within few days, Bluetooth started dropping connection (stattering and such) - returning the product - but I did get a "Party On" model locally, and that works better so far - maybe this unit was just faulty? I'll never know....The quality of the speaker is not... well... great, It's a bit "flat" - especially on high and low, it's "all in the middle".The light seems to work with music, when the music has some volume to it. It almost looks like the volume on the speaker has to be up for the light to pickup the rhythm. The device plays via bluetooth as well as a direct cable connection to a music source (headphone jack).Overall a nice toy that works as a speaker just for dun - if you are hoping to use it to listen to music, do not bother; but a cool little toy for kids and iPads - not bad.Se evaluate why you want it, but it's a fun thing to setup for kids to blink and play music as they are falling asleep, or a little kids' music event in a small area - like during a sleepover.

Shouldn't even get this 1 star!!I purchased this speaker and it took about 5 or so days to arrive. I was really excited to see the light show that it advertised. The lights are supposed to change to the beat of the music.When I got the packaging opened I noticed the extremely short USB cable provided with it. The cable could not have been any shorter. Thats fine I have plenty of other mini USB cables. What I am disappointed and very upset with is the quality of the speaker. IT ALSO SKIPS AND FREEZES UP!!! I tried the first song, and the speaker is such low quality that it rattles and it is very obnoxious. When it skips part of the song you actually have to shake the speaker to get it to work again!Very VERY disappointed with this product.
