Love, love, love these Omega 3 softgels. When I started taking them, noticed that suddenly I had no PMS or pre-menopausal symptoms anymore. I was taking them for my heart health and anti-inflammatory properties to offset some arthritis and joint pain, am amazed at the side affect of a calmer and cramp-free menstrual cycle every month, and the disappearance of hot flashes. Worth every dime for that. Of note, I am taking these according to my weight, not the bottle-recommended dosage, and I divide the dosages up into four times a day, not an all-at-once pill gluttony, as I think that is the more affective way to absorb the omega 3. So far, my D.O. is 100% supportive of me taking this supplement, although he wishes I would lower the dosage.

Great product. I mostly take as a preventative, not to fix any problems. Have noticed my skin is softer. Most importantly, these capsules don't cause a fishy aftertaste like other fish oil I have tried. I am unsure of any personal benefits of the astaxanthan, but I figure there's so much literature out there about the positive benefits of antioxidants, that its worth taking. According to Web Md: Astaxanthin is used for treating Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, high cholesterol, and an eye condition called age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It is also used for preventing cancer. Astaxanthin is an antioxidant. This effect might protect cells from damage. Astaxanthin might also improve the way the immune system functions.

I gave it 5 stars, but really, how do you know if any omegas are helping unless you've got blood tests for comparison. I found out recently that omegas are a blood thinner, so you have to be careful if you're having a colonoscopy or any type of test where blood thinners are a no-no. My husband should be taking 2-3 of these per day for cholesterol, but the blood thinning effect shows up in his arms: Any scratch or bump is magnified, especially the bleeding. So we've cut him back to 1 per day and the issues have improved. I chose the "Garden of Life" brand because I believe they take more care with ingredients. I use many supplements from "Garden of Life" which I highly recommend.

I have been taking this product religiously for 2 years now. I am thrilled to tell you that after trying a zillion other products this one is the winner. I was diagnosed in 2001 with a rare illness called Dermatomyositis. After 8 years looking for a cure and trying everything under the sun I took matters into my own hands. I read how wonderful fish oil was for you and how in the past it has put some people into remission who have autoimmune related problems. After experimenting with several brands, I was introduced to this one by a herbalist at a natural foods store. I would have to say within two weeks I saw a huge difference in the way I felt and my energy. With in one month I was off most of my medications, and no longer having to take my infusions of IVIG. It was such a remarkable recovery that my doctors are now true believers. Just something as simple as this fish oil took care of something that had plagued my life for 8+ years. I am truly happy to say that my daughter who is dyslexic and my son who has ADHD started taking this product as well and we have had wonderful results. Their teachers were coming up to me asking me what medication they were on! I am writing this review to get the word out about how amazing this product is so that I might be able to convince others to give it a try! I assure you, you will not be disappointed!!!

My endocrinologist advised me to take this particular brand of fish oil. I have taken it and find that I do not have digestive difficulties with it. This brand is also found at my local organic food market. Highly recommend! **UPDATE** - I began to suffer bad heartburn at night - the kind that actually bubbled up. I took Oceans 3 with dinner or near bedtime. I tried numerous options such as elevating my head/shoulders at night, stopped taking Zypan (which I took for digestive health but which had stomach acid in it) - eliminated red sauce, chocolate (don't drink coffee, tea, or soda) dairy - nothing helped except Nexium or Zantac, which gave me unwanted side effects. I ran out of Oceans 3 and I noticed after several days that the heartburn went away. I was floored. I don't know why it gave me heartburn but wondered about its thick, dark encasement. Gummy bears give me heartburn, so I am wondering if some ingredient in the outer encasement was the cause. I now take Omega Brite fish oil (at night around bedtime like I did with Oceans 3), and do not suffer heartburn. Taking away 2 stars for this problem.

I had been taking Ocean's Mom along with my prenatal vitamins and I was frustrated that I would have to purchase 4 bottles for 2 months (plus, the bottles were practically empty). After comparing the contents and prices, I've started to use these and plan to throughout breastfeeding per my OB for their comparable amount of DHA, Omega-3's and considerably larger amount of EPA: Ocean's Mom = take 2 daily, purchase 4 bottles to get 120 capsules Ocean's 3 = take 1 daily, purchase 2 bottles to get 120 capsules FYI - While still "strawberry-flavored," those with a more delicate demeanor during pregnany should know that these pills are huge...unlike Ocean's Mom which are tiny and very easy to take. No gross taste if you burp, but if you can't swallow easily, then stick with Ocean's Mom. Love this company and thankful to my prenatal nurse mom and friends for making me aware of them!
