Incredible reel at this price
I’m 47 years old and have been fishing my whole life. Up until recently I have always purchased real high end equipment $300 reels and rods... Daiwa, Shimano, St. Croix and G Loomis. I received my first reel on 8-7-20...liked it so much I purchased the second right away and received it on 8-14-20. I paired them with some Scheels brand rods that were $39.99 ea. I have tied almost every kind of lure on these and the performance is crazy. I have one spooled with 12lb. mono and the other with 30lb. braid. I honestly can’t tell the difference between this and a $200 plus reel except the durability. They have a large range of adjustment for all skill levels. I had my 6 year old son throwing a Wopper Plopper in 15 minutes of teaching with one. I have used baitcasters since the late 90’s and I was tremendously impressed with the quality and smoothness of the Sougayilang reels. My buddies I fish with kinda laughed but when I spent the evening fishing with them...they were impressed. I will buy more....please make them in other colors though, I’m not a red guy. Update 8-31-20...Purchased 2 more of these reels on 8-21-20. Within 10 days of of receiving my 3rd and 4th reels the cork handle knobs pulled off of 2 reels while fighting fish and the nut that holds the handle on one stripped out and the handle is now crooked. The cork knobs are simply glued on with a pen sized amount of glue and the screw looking thing is a plastic cap for decoration. I re-glued the knobs on with the decorative screw caps and no big deal. The stripped out handle nut is a issue though. I’ve still been using it and catching fish with it but it should be replaced because the LocTite that is holding it on won’t last forever. I’m still impressed with the reels. The engagement after the button is pressed is very positive and the drag is really smooth.

great potential for the price.
yes I give it 5 stars but not because it's the best reel ever, rather because of it's quality and value for the price. First I will tell you mine came with some mold on the cork handles, quick bleach cleaning then clearcoat and they look Like they probably should have from the factory. the reel should also come properly lubricated and greased, Yeah I took maybe 5 minutes doing that to my satisfaction while waiting to do a second coat of treatment on the grips. I spooled up some line and let everything rest overnight. reinstalled the grips the next day(the screws that hold the grips on are not screws they are press fit plugs.) setting up the reel from this point was easy just have to dial it in and do some practice casts until it's perfect. I read bad reviews about gaps and loose spools and line getting caught inside the reel somewhere, I can see it happening for a rookie to bait casters so I doubt their experience because this had no issues beyond the minor inconveniences of having to clean and lube it. I expected a $15 to $20 cheap reel that would backlash from a sneeze, what I got was a $30ish reel that once you get past the qc department issues, casts and performs similar to a $80-100 reel. time and materials used less than 10 minutes of working on the grips and 5 to oil and grease it plus drying time for the grips. maybe $1 worth of materials which I already had on hand.

It's a budget reel, but not junk! (and good support, which I needed)
Let me begin with I am an avid fisherman living on the Gulf Coast. I mostly fish inshore from a boat for trout and redfish, and the like. Been fishing all my life, and keep our boat in a lift on the water. I got 40+ years of experience, some of it good. All that said, I never spend much for gear because it rots down here. If I can't catch fish for under $100, it just isn't fun. Well lately everything has gotten super expensive. To top it off, my favorite LEW baitcaster started acting up. I took it apart and got it sorted some, but it will never be 100%. So now it's a back-up. I go shopping at the regular places and these things are now $150-$250!! I'm not doing that just so it can rot away on the coast. So I start shopping (exactly like you are doing right now), and reading reviews. I usually read a bunch of reviews first, and then buy something. This reel had some good reviews, and I figured it was worth a try. I bought the reel, some chinese 20lb braid, and went to the local store and picked up an All Star rod on sale. The reel and braid arrived. I spooled it, and went fishing. It worked FANTASTIC... for about an hour or two. After it while, it slowly started to bind up on the string guide. I lubed it a bit, and kept fishing. When I came home, I noticed the cap on the string guide had fallen apart. CALL FOR HELP. I contacted the sellers via messages. I told them this part broke and I needed one. They said it would take 1-2 weeks. In about 10 days I got the part (2 actually :)). Today I took the reel completely apart. It seems very well built, but just VERY underlubed. It was very dry inside with a tiny amount of grease in it. I cleaned it all up, and lubed it all over with some Garcia lube. I put the new parts on and went for a few casts. (it's 80 degrees on 12/10, go figure) This thing is so light and reels so easy now. It's better than new! Moral: If you are willing to save a few bucks and pull this reel apart to clean and lube it, I think it's worth the money. If you want to plug and play, it would be a gamble for you. I think it's a great reel, but I will have to run it a whole season before I know. I believe the reason this reel is cheap is because they save on the labor on assembly. The materials seem as good as my LEWs, and much lighter. Fit and finish is good. Remember, all those reels at the store are made in China now. Check them! I did. They will say they have better quality, but do they really? Now I doubt that anyone is going to put Sougayilang stickers on their F250, or their bass boat, but you have to ask yourself... why not?
