No bugs! See through! Not hot!
As you can see, the tent doesn’t block the vire either from the inside or the outside. I was a bit afraid it would look like a black-walled orb, but thankfully, you can easily see through it. I like to garden and hated to think of blocking the view to all my hard work—but it’s all good! And the mesh of the walls is super fine—so no no-seeums, gnats or mosquitoes can make their way in. The 8” of fabric around the edges allows for keeping the bugs out too, if you lay it out with common sense where there are no gaps.We live in Dallas, TX, so we added sand bags to the tent’s built-in hooks and used most of the stake lines because WIND, y’all. We had a big storm with 50+mph winds and 3 inches of rain and this tent stayed right in place. (So, don’t be an idiot—use the stakes and weigh it down, otherwise you have no one to blame but yourself if it goes air born.) Some sides dipped in—but that’s good—as it allowed the rain to run off of the roof and down the sides rather than pooling in the middle and weighing straight down. I highly recommend popping in a side of you leave on vacation to ensure run off.Oh, and there are handy hooks around the inside so you can hang up string lights! You lose some breeze, but the no bugs is worth the trade off. That’s what fans are for.We purchased the 15x15’ to cover most of our patio, which is conveniently round—and you can see we have a loveseat, couch, ottoman—and we’re going to squeeze in the matching chair (removing the deck box). So you’ve got room in this thing. (Forgive the messiness inside—we were pulling in pool toys to avoid them flying away, too, in that storm.)There are 2 doors so you can easily walk through. The ceiling is probably 7.5-8’. My husband is 6‘3“ and I was very conscious of making sure we had something that he could easily move around in. The walls are slightly angled inward, but if you have furniture in there, you definitely won’t be coming up against them. It is definitely more orb shaped than triangular.Yes, it’s not cheap—but you don’t have to cover yourself in Deet, or—unlike with a Thermocell—you can eat around it safely (PSA: you can’t have uncovered food around a Thermocell per their own instructions). So eating summer meals with no flies is also fabulous. So is not needing to re-shower if you want to go back outside at night for awhile (so you aren’t having to spray down again, then re-showering to ensure you don’t get Deet or essential oils on your indoor furniture or sheets at bedtime, because unhealthy for the first case and not pleasant smelling in both cases). It’s also a win for keeping chemicals off your kids as much as possible. And same goes if you’re pregnant.Like I said—not cheap—but sooooo well thought out and worth it. Think of all the bug spray, Thermocell refills, citronella candles, etc., that you WON’T be buying. It might just even out price-wise by summer’s end.

Easy peasy to put together
We are taking this camping where at night the mosquitos can be really annoying. So we opened it up on the patio and it was hilarious! It literally just pops up like a jack in the box. To put it back into bag (btw the way they originally had it in the oversized bag makes it look like you have extra room. You don’t. Nothing ever goes back the way it comes out of those bags!) you fold it sort of like an accordion, then twist it into an 8, then over the ⭕️ like the windshield covers. If you have long monkey arms you can put it back in the bag by yourself. We were laughing so much it took three of us.Seriously it is well made but only one entrance though. It looks just like the photo and pretty tall. Don’t know yet about the sun filtering. We shall see how it fares at the beach and the sun.I will update it. I bought the 6 sided 10x10

Enjoy the night w/out mosquitoes and flying insects
I bought this because I like to sit outside at night but hate mosquitoes. It’s easy to set up just be careful when opening it it can pop open quickly as my husband learned 😂 once open the rest of it was easy to set up. We have not put it away yet so I can’t say how it is to fold up. We got the 10x10 and have 2 chairs and a small table in it and I’m sure we can put 2 more chairs in it and it wouldn’t feel crowded. I’m sharing a picture of where we originally had it we have since moved it to a different area of the yard. We were able to move it without having to fold it up.

Tips for set up and use 12x12 size
Overall this is a nice screen tent for bugs and a nice shade protection from sun. Just some tips for use: It is definitely not a one person set up like the picture shows. The first time I opened it to set it up myself, the thing untwisted from the twist, knocked me down and bruised my arm. So use caution, it twists tightly. Once my husband and I opened it together that was better. We used at the campsite with the spikes, we put it around a 9 foot picnic table and 6 of us sat comfortably. It stayed rigid and kept bugs out. One of the days, we disassembled it and took it to the beach for sun shade. It was very windy that day, it took 4 of us to set it up. The key with that set up was open both zippered door screens and face them open and flapping INTO the wind. That reduced the kite like push during set up. The second key is to fill the bags with sand and BURY the bags to keep it nice and tight (see picture) otherwise the wind was just dragging them. You would not want to use the spikes in the beach sand IMO, those would come out with wind.As a sun shade tent, once we figured out set up, it worked great for sun protection! 4 of us with all our chairs, bags, coolers etc. were in it comfortably for 4 hours; the door screens had to be kept open and up otherwise it had too much wind resistance. Many people stopped to look at it. It is unique looking. It would not be useful at all for rain, though it doesn’t claim to be waterproof. It has no center pole, so it is not something you would set up for longer periods of time and leave up for weeks. The frame structure wouldn’t hold up to a harder rain storm.Bottom line: it is easy to set up and take down with TWO people, not one for either. The option of spikes for firm ground at a campsite and sand bags for beach set up is nice. Once folded up for travel, the carry bag is nice, though it is about 4 feet in diameter. I expect we will get a couple seasons out of it (I hope) though the way it twists in half has me slightly skeptical for longer than that. If you want a large size bug tent and or a nice sun protection tent at the beach or a lake, this is a great option.
