Wonderful Book
My Kindergarten team used a different book to teach the life cycle of a butterfly this year. 4 H brought over caterpillars along with this book. My team loved this book so much that we all decided to purchase this book to teach our butterfly life cycle. Our students really enjoyed the book and the colorful pictures.

Best Ever Book on Metamorphasis
I retired from teaching at the primary level and wish I'd had this book years ago. It's just a perfect segue into the purchase of caterpillars and Butterfly habitat which I also ordered from Amazon. The 2 little boys, ages 3 and 6 were very interested and love the "big words" which they learned quickly. Now that we are watching the book come to life, the whole family is having fun.

I really enjoyed the pictures in The Life-Cycle of The Monarch Butterfly ...
I bought this book for my Final Presentation for my Pre-School Curriculum Class. I really enjoyed the pictures in The Life-Cycle of The Monarch Butterfly book. They are really beautiful. but I felt this this book was more appropriate for Pre-School children. The pictures are animated. The book is about a caterpillar in a jar and it's metamorphosis. It is easily explained and there are pictures at the end of the book about different types of butterflies and where to go to see them.

Best to use if actually raising butterflies.
This book is best to use if actually raising butterflies... because that is the perspective the material is taught from. So if you don't want you children to beg you to raise butterflies at home, then I suggest you get another book. If you are going to raise butterflies at home then you can either read the book before raising the butterflies so the child knows what to expect especially to prepare them to be patient in the down times... OR you can save the book to read after releasing the butterflies into the wild to console them or to remember the time together. Giving the book afterward also does not spoil what to expect so watching the butterfly raising is filled with surprise. Either way, re-reading this book after raising butterflies refreshed the memories and learning of the experience. I got the book to go with a butterfly kit for my nephew who is 4 years old, so it works for that purpose. However, this book is not quite what I had in mind so I will keep looking for something else for my own son. The reason I want to look for something else is simply that the drawings of butterfly stages were rather small at times and not very clear... plus there was very tiny text wrapping around items in the drawings. This made the book hard to follow for the purpose of just learning the life cycle of butterflies. Talking about raising butterflies on their own seemed to take away from just learning about butterflies and their life cycles...Overall the book does the job, I just wish it was a tiny bit better.

My little friend loved this
I bought this for a 6-year old friend of mine (I am 10X older than that) who shares my interest in butterflies. She absolutely loved it and said, "Wow! There's a lot of information in this book!" I was pleased with the pictures and especially the fact that all nationalities of children were pictured in the story. So the book is suitable for all children. The book showed them working together on their caterpillar project. I liked that very much myself.

Kid loves it!
My 4 year old loves it! He learned about butterflies in preschool and has loved them ever since. I like the factual information and the cute story it's presented in. It's about a preschool class that gets a caterpillar and let's it go outside when it turns into a butterfly. While the book explains everything very thoroughly, it is sweet how it is told from the point of view of one of the students.

Well...who knew...not me!
The little parsley caterpillar my three year old granddaughter found in the garden this summer was very special to her. She talked to him for the longest time. Then we brought him in on a rosemary branch and she checked him every morning. I knew next to nothing about this new border so, I needed more information to answer all her questions. We ordered "From Caterpillar to Butterfly". What great little book. Not only did we learn everything we needed to know we learned that come spring we can raise butterflies. Our chrysalis is now at the preschool with other chrysalises waiting for spring to morph to a swallow tailed butterfly. Great book for both of us. I would highly recommend this book.
