Fluval G3 Pre-Filter Cartridge

I love my Fluval G3 filter for my Cichlids but they're messy and the filters don't last long between cleanings, needed back up replacements. These are PERFECT and cut down the time to switch out the filters by having the replacements, just rinse them and run the brush through a few times then soak them in white distilled vinegar overnight. Rinse and let dry DONE! Highly Recommend

Finally replaced my 25 year old filter system with the Fluval G3. Wow! what an improvement. Now have consistently clear water. The aquarium's rear glass, even after previously scrapping and scrubbing, was still covered with "stuff", now has mostly been self cleaned. It is very easy to maintain, I can swap filters without dealing with closing and opening valves along with the occasional water leakage that was necessary with my old magnum 350.Even the fish seem to be happier!

This is a great filter. It is easy to change and clean. I am shocked at how much debris is trapped in this filter each time I have to do the scheduled cleaning. I keep two on hand and swap them out to prolong the use of the filters.

You'll need some extras of these because they get dirty fast. These little buggers are $25 at local stores so I wanted a couple extra. Take my advice and buy some wire brushes to clean them because the crevices on them are so small you can't clean them without one. It took me a while to figure out what I could use to clean these because to me it's an awesome filter but they proprietary filter elements are a horrible design. They should make a sleeve style filter cartridge like on the Old school magnum 350. The top little areas of this filter element are horrible to try to clean. I've only had this filter for a couple weeks

Keep tank clean and healthy. You can rinse and reused but replacing it give it a better flow. My fish cost more than the filter so I replace new filter so I don't have to replace my fish.

Easy way of changing the filter via catridges. Takes seconds, and if you buy a few like I have you can rotate them. I'm surprised no one else has thought about making exchangeable filters via cartridges like fluval.

I have this on my 60 gallon discus tank and rinse off every 5 to 7 days and I am running at 100% flow rate for the last 3 months. I may want to try the finer prefilter in the future just to compare.
