IN GERMAN WITH ENGLISH SUBTITLES Born in Germany to Turkish parents, Cenk Batu is an undercover agent with the State Bureau of Investigation (LKA) in Hamburg. His ability to analyze people and situations is put to good use as he works on a wide variety of cases ranging from industrial espionage and financial crimes to terror cells and political assassinations. Cenk Batu is part of the Tatort series, Germanys longest-running TV crime franchise. EPISODE 1 - ON THE SUNNY SIDE: Cenk Batu has been working for months as part of a risky undercover mission on the premises of the Petermann company, an ostensibly reputable contractor. Now, of all times, Batu is sent to the hospital with a new assignment: adopting the role of a Turkish small-time criminal. EPISODE 2 - URBAN WARFARE: Cenk Batu is conducting an investigation with Hamburg's SEK (Central Assignment Command) and apparently, some members of the unit have been illegally selling information to foreign powers. EPISODE 3 - FORGET-ME-NOT: Cenk Batu is sent undercover as press relations officer Sinan Afra by the LKA, the German State Office of Criminal Investigation, to trace an industrial spy. Someone with international connections has been leaking secret construction plans. EPISODE 4 - A LIFE FOR A LIFE: Cenk Batu has been planted as a driver for an organ dealer ring. When he is told to pick up 14-year-old Amelie, the girl manages to escape. Cenk is now under pressure: on the one hand, the organ dealers want him to hand over the girl, on the other he is responsible for an LKA failure. EPISODE 5 - THE ROAD TO PARADISE: Disguised as a radical Muslim, Cenk Batu's new assignment leads him directly to Islamic circles: he has to infiltrate a terror cell in Hamburg, which is planning a devastating assassination in the port city. EPISODE 6 - THE BALLAD OF CENK AND VALERIE Batu's latest assignment takes him behind the scenes of the financial world. He's collecting evidence to use against an inadequately transparent system of illegal financial transactions.

Disappointing series although the plots are interesting
The premise, a German Turck, going undercover to resolve big issue crimes, like industrial espionage, suicide bombers etc., appealed to me, and was the reason I bought it. The subjects of the issues were potentially good. But I found there were many "holes" in the story lines. A mystery series should have "airtight" plots. This is indicative of sloppy writing.e.g. in the story about infiltrating a jihadist plot for suicide bombing, the undercover agent, was left to produce the explosives all by HIMSELF without at least a witness or supervision, even though the leader KNEW that he was a police agent, so he was able to THROW OUT the chemicals.!!

the bad guys automatically
Watched because I know the actors, not as well constructed as it should be for a suspense mystery; but the story tackles some of the issues of migration and integration and does not make foreigners, in this case turks, the bad guys automatically.

A good international mystery series
A very good series. Kurtulus does a good job playing the German undercover detective, who happens to be a member of Germany's Turkish minority.

Fortunately for me
Fortunately for me, subtitles are a matter of course since I can't watch any shows without CC because of my hearing loss. So, foreign films are not really foreign by language. This show puts together an intelligent story without making the police look stupid and stumbling on to success. Don't you just hate that?

Great plot lines AND great acting
The acting is superb and the plots very interesting. Sometimes I had to take a breather because there was just too much action and danger that made me nervous. Also, the main character is very likeable which I prefer on these. I've started getting into the "German Noir" and they are competing nicely with the Scandinavians.

( This often happens in a good series and I don't understand why
Cenk Batu was a riveting series about a Turkish undercover agent in Germany. The main character is both courageious and considerate. My only regret is that there are no more in the series :( This often happens in a good series and I don't understand why.

Inhalt ausser Frage, Rest naja
Anleitungen in einschlägigen Internetforen.Soweit so gut. Erste DVD eingelegt. Vorfreude - der Tatortvorspann läuf. Alles super.
