Dean Ween - aka The Deaner - recorded the rock2 album at his dedicated studio facility in Lambertville, NJ, across the river from his native New Hope, PA. Here's how the Deaner describes the genesis of this new body of work: 'These were written for this sole purpose and recorded with the entire lineup: the best band in the world, Ween - Claude Coleman Jr. , Dave Dreiwitz, and Glenn McClelland, also the other best band in the world, the lineup of the DWG - Mike Dillon, Bill Fowler, Ray Kubian, Scott Rednor, and the other 50 members and usual suspects. If you have to ask yourself whether or not you need this album, you have already failed. It's Deaner & The Gang, mang. It opens with "Showstopper", an obscure cover that sets up the band philosophy. Moistboyz never retire, DWG do their thang, so get on the floor. It takes balls to start your album with a track featuring a drum solo. Whale balls. Big enough to saddle. The album winds through dirty surf grooves, finished versions of Ween songs, brown hazy solos, nasty funk, m7 jazzy jams, and a righteous heir to 12 Golden Country Greats. This is a mature set of musicians purposefully being as immature as they want. This is America. Put it on my pillow; it's glorious.

Fun album, lots of talent.
I'm a Prog Rock fan (especially Yes) and for some reason I feel like Ween and by extension, this album, are fantastic. Fun lyrics, complicated compositions. Just great, fun stuff. I'm surprised this album has so few reviews.
