AutoCAD 2010 For Dummies
L**S
Excellent Reference
Excellent reference for those who have little knowledge of Auto Cad and want to learn it quickly. Step by step instructions as well as short cuts once you have mastered basics. Unlike many of the Auto Cad teachers I have encountered, the book does not pretend that learning Auto Cad is the functional equivalent of earning a Master's Degree in Computer Science. This book demystifies Auto Cad, and focuses on making you productive. You can ponder the cross pollenating connectedness of computer software operations on your own.

A friend in need
I took a 3-day "Fundamentals" class. The class was well taught, but the textbook only contained step-by-step exercises without much of an index or reference sections. "AutoCAD 2010 For Dummies" really zeroes in on the things that tend to be confusing, gives you the background and warnings you need, and walks you through things where it's appropriate.I was getting ready to pay for some extra face time with my original teacher to conquer "Model Space" and "Paper Space", but this book saved me from having to do that. I like the conversational and humorous tone of all the "Dummies" series books, and this one is no exception. It has been a big help.

.
Great book and easy to follow compared to other reference books for AutoCad. Very detailed w/o confusing a novice. It has detailed step by step directions, but doesn't confuse you with an overload of information. I completed my AutoCad certification and have very basic knowledge about the program. Certification took me 3 months and the teacher went very quickly through topics in the class. Having this book and practicing at home is absolutely necessary to master AutoCad. This book is perfect for someone who has little exposure to AutoCad / Engineering tools and wants to take it to the next level. AutoCad is a fun program in general! I am not very tech savy when it comes to complicated computer programs so this book was perfect for me.

Eh
I like the book, but, I thought I'd be able to practice with it more and whatnot. I wish it had a CD with it. I was hoping to get more hands-on with AutoCad. But, it's not a bad deal, and I received it in a reasonable amount of time.

Two Stars
This is not the typical Dummies book. Sample it and others well if you intend to buy a tutorial.

Generally well written, but a bit too much bluster.
I am learning AutoCAD and bought this guide because it seemed like the best option.I found this book to be well written by the author, but like most FOR DUMMIES guides, there is far too much bluster and I spend a lot of time just wishing I could get to the point. It is probably a good guide for people who are a bit nervous about AutoCAD, but not so good for those who just want to get on with it.

Knowledge is the key.
Purchased this book at a really good price. If you need to understand more about autocad and dint want to break the bank then this is the way forward. Well laid out and not too difficult to understand.

Great book and you would be a dummy if you were learning AutoCad and did not buy this book.

For a dummy
Clear and concise , what more do you want unless you can throw a tutor in as well for this dummy !

Little disappointed
Some sections of this book are not clear. There should be more screen print figures to describe certain aspects of Autocad. And the biggest disapointment for me was that the book does not cover 3D drawing.
