This maple pen is the ultimate gift for the gentleman who has everything. It's important to have a good writing instrument on hand and this is pleasurable just picking it up. It had a lovely weight, smooth feel, and beautiful shine. The lid makes a satisfying click when you put it on the end to write. Schneider pen refills are the best - I have them in other pens, and nothing writes as smoothly. Even the wooden presentation box is solidly hinged. A gift you'll be proud to give...but just might want to keep for yourself instead!

The overall package is quite nice. The pen is solid and sturdy, the wooden box quite attractive, and the mini tote bag that comes with it is good for travel. My main issue was the ball point. It comes with two cartridges and they both were very inconsistent and after numerous attempts to get them worked in, they still stuttered and were not smooth at all. So, the pen physically is nice, but the supplied refills are terrible. I didn't expect to have to go and buy refills right after getting it. That is a pretty big fail.
