Very unreliable DO NOT BUY!
This thing just erased all my life data. One hard drive failed and the only thing I did was to replace it with a new one expecting the full recovery of the raid. Long story short, after almost 2 weeks back and forth with support, they just told me they can't mount back the partition and I need to contact a data recovery service. What a joke! I will definitely move to another NAS solution such as Synology as QNAP is very unreliable and I have to pay now for recovery services to see if I can get the data back.

Plasticky, light, do NOT buy for individual mode!
The media could not be loaded. Plasticky, light...very disappointed!Do NOT buy for individual mode!I wanted to use it as 2 USB to SATA drive bays -- hot swap of individual drives does NOT work in individual mode! "Safely remove" in Windows (and remove in Qnap RAID Manager) disconnect the USB and BOTH drive bays!!! UASP did NOT work, and SMART parameters were NOT accessible from Windows (only in Qnap software). Windows reported SATA 1.5 Gbps NOT 6! That's a hard NO for me -- returning it!I replaced it with the StarTech 3 Drive Bay SATA backplane and it's SO *BEAUTIFUL*, heavy, metal, and individual hot swap WORKS (enable via BIOS). It does NOT require rails nor screws on the drives -- more convenient!A simple drive cage and 80cm fan also works, if you have them laying around. See the photos! For USB to SATA, I bought dongles: ST-Lab U-1050 (U-1040 / U-1041). Tested for a single drive, it uses 5 watts less than the QNAP-002. 6 Gbps, hot swap, SMART -- everything just works. Yay!!!So my question is, why would anyone buy this QNAP box to attach to a computer? If you want RAID, use software -- it comes with Windows and Linux! If you have a *QNAP* NAS with RAID, then I cannot speak to that. I wanted more DAS -- direct attached storage on my non-QNAP NAS/NVR server: for that, I do NOT recommend the TR-002.Disclaimer: This is an honest independent review and I have NO affiliation with any of the brands discussed, nor have I received any compensation.
