I literally watched a mosquito frantically hover around my arm trying to land on me until it gave up and flew away. I live in a tropical environment where I would get bit all the time. I don’t want to use deet and natural repellents barely help so I was just dealing with the daily bites. Enter: lemon eucalyptus oil. This stuff works so well. I love the scent, but it is very strong so you only need maybe 1/2 a dropper diluted in witch hazel to make a spray. I expect this bottle will last me at least a year, which makes it a really good value. Highly recommend! I love that I’ll never have to buy bug spray again.

The scent is very strong, but it is a very potent repellent. I made my own insect repellent oil and repellent water that I even use to spray on my dogs to keep bugs off. It shoos away all types of insects, mosquitos, gnats, even spiders. I went on a camping trip with some friends and while they all complained of bug bites and spider bites, I was bite and bug free! Did a couple of sprays around my tent and sleeping bag. I use some on my hair at times because my hair products tend to attract bugs flying around. This is my go to repellent. It’s effectiveness is unmatched.

I like that this oil is in a Glass bottle. That helps. I have never used Lemon Eucalyptus before but after a bit of easy research I see it is indeed as effective as Citronella at keeping mosquitos and ticks away. It has a very citronella-like smell but it is not quite as sharp as citronella and has a slightly more lemon smell to it. Like all REAL essential oils, and unlike all synthetic essential oils, this 100% pure Lemon Eucalyptus oil will fade away before any manufactured or synthetic bug spray will. I find citronella and lemon eucalyptus must be re-applied about every hour for clothes and a bit sooner when sprayed directly on the skin. IMHO, this is a good deal since ALL bug spray ingredients especially DEET is super toxic and remeber our Skin will absorb most of what is sprayed onto it, even tho DEET and Pecarinin (?) the new less toxic Deet-like stuff will stay effective for 12 hours, they say. Any way, I think using a zero-toxic spray of lemon eucalyptus mixed w citronella is a much better choice than using any synthetic product, ESPECIALLY for KIDS!

I use this on myself and my children. It wears off when you sweat but it still is somewhat effective. I’d say it’s more effective than lighting a couple of citronella incense sticks to ward off mosquitos. But the more repellant, the better. The reason I can’t give it a better rating is because the lid doesn’t tighten well.

This oil is excellent quality, the scent is pure.My only complaint is the seal on the bottle is not strong and I had ordered 3 bottles in the order of this brand and before I ever opened the package which was left at my door, I could smell the oils as the bottles had leaked in shopping and saturated the cardboard boxes that they were shipped in. Obviously, I lost some of the contents and had to do cleanup after unpacking them. Since the labels were saturated with oil, with the washing with soap and water this gas damaged the labels making packaging unattractive and beginning with ⅛ -⅙ less oil than I purchased in each bottle. If they improved packaging they would have a wonderful product!

The smell of this stuff was so strong and overwhelming and horrid. I used a small drop of it in the bathroom and for weeks I couldnt get the smell out. I guess if you liked that smell it would be ok, but it smelled horrible to me. Ended up throwing the bottle out.

Bug spray is really easy to make. I used to make them complicated, but this simple formula works the best (plus it helps sooth itchy bug bite!I was a skincare manufacturer for many years. It's important to know that essential oils need to be diluted to about 2% in order to be considered skin safe. I've seen many unsafe claims on the internet.To get around doing a bunch of math, you can use the simple trick of 1 drop of essential oil per 1 ml of liquid. For example, I'm holding a 10 ml atomizer spray bottle. So I added 10 drops of Lemon Eucalyptus essential oil then filled the rest up with witch hazel. Since there's no emulsifier in the formula, you just need to shake it before every use.
