A great purchase
This is one of the best items I've ever purchased. It is simple but has resolved a major household issue. I like strong coffee, my wife, not so much. Using a standard coffee brewer, neither of us was satisfied. The solution was to buy a single cup coffee brewer. Unfortunately, the K-Cup coffee was still too strong for my wife's taste. The Bru Joy coffee grinder solved the problem. We both like fresh ground coffee and have our favorite coffee beans. I can now grind a small amount of beans for my wife's cup and enough for me to enjoy a more robust flavor. At 19 bucks, it has already paid for itself in the difference between a bag of my favorite coffee beans vs. a box of K-Cups. If you have a single cup machine, I highly recommend grinding your own coffee beans instead of buying pre-packaged K-Cups.

Works, does what it's supposed to at a great price
****UPDATE 5/18/2017After about 5 months of use, the plastic insert of the burr grinder broke, like many others have listed here.*******I had this grinder for about 6 weeks now, and it is reliable and works great. It does take a bit of effort to grind enough beans for a full pot- this grinder is best suited for someone who brews 4-5 cups at a time. Some people have said theirs broke quickly, and I can sometimes feel the burr start to bind- I never force it, I just back the crank off a smidgen, then all works smoothly from there. It's been a good purchase for me so far.

Worked great for a time but had fatal design flaw.
Ordered this grinder one year and six days ago. Today, it's dead. Must have broken on yesterday's use, and it took a couple days before I got it to the office, so I got pretty close to exactly one year of use from it. Like most of the 1-3 star reviews on here, the plastic piece inside the ceramic burr broke, and the coffee grinder no long grinds. Up until its complete failure, it had been working great. 3 stars for 1 year of flawless use. -2 stars for what is clearly a design/manufacturing flaw (they all fail in exactly the same way).

Wonderful grinder, even better price.
This is an excellent little grinder. It takes less than a minute to grind enough coffee for my 2-serving moka pot, and the grind is reasonably consistent. The best part is it is incredibly quiet. I love coffee, but I hate the ear splitting rattling of electric coffee grinders. The one down-side is that the size of the grind is controlled by a simple screw with continuous motion, rather than something measured in discreet intervals. If you wanted to regularly change the grind size for different brewing devices, this would make it harder to remember where to place the screw for each specific grind size. Still you can't beat the price!

The Bru Joy seems to work great
The Bru Joy seems to work great. I haven't ground a full bag of coffeeyet, but the first few fills of the grinder have gone well. It produces avery even grind, the cranking effort required is minimal, and the twohalves of the grinder stay together well when in use.I use it to grind coffee for a reusable Keurig-compatible foil filter, andI find that the size of this grinder is perfect to grind a day or two worthof coffee with minimal hassle. The window into the grind cup withdemarcations for the number of scoops, and the included bean scoop help inthis regard-- about 1.5 to 2 scoops seems to fill the reusable Keurig cupand produce a balanced 10oz cup of coffee.

o A pleasure to use. Needs more grip.
I've used the grinder for a few months for coffee beans, and it's working well and is a pleasure to use. o The biggest place for improvement is the smooth round surface, which one has to grip way harder than a surface which has something to hold on to. o I like how it is customizable -- optionally grind without the catcher, and/or without the lid. o I find it easy to "zero in" on the desired fineness by using both a visual check and counting the number of screw threads exposed (e.g., 3.5 threads makes a medium-coarse grind). I think I will also mark a place on the knob and silver metal so that I can most reliably and quickly find that place again. o It's super easy to grind, and I find the handle about the perfect length -- lots of control and feedback, while not taking too long. o I think I might like an optional "nut" to put over the handle, to make it even easier to focus on the grinding without the handle slipping off. But it really works well as it is.

love the burr grinder
This grinder lasted me about a year, before it wore out. Otherwise, love the burr grinder, filled it up to the brim and that was perfect for a large cup of coffee. However, there's an internal piece that's plastic, holding on to a constant moving metal rod... so, when this plastic piece cracked, I was left without a grinder, until I super-glued it back together. Some odd months later, I'm looking at different coffee grinders, and wanted to throw my 2 cents in. I might add, this was my main grinder, daily use, for an entire year... so I'm not too upset that a $15 grinder lasted a year+... just wish it didn't use plastic.

What a fantastic deal. This burr grinder is perfect for getting ...
What a fantastic deal. This burr grinder is perfect for getting your grind exactly how you want it. It also comes apart quickly and easily for cleaning. Since I only make coffee for me at work (that's what I bought this for) this holds ample coffee beans in one go to make enough for one cup of coffee plus a bit more.
