Fit my LT1000 42” deck perfectly. Super strong springs.

Reading several other reviews I was skeptical about the fit of this, or any other mulching cover for such an old machine. This cover did not fit perfectly, but that was due to the age of the mower deck rather than the mulch cover itself. At 20 yrs of age, the deck is no longer "like new". It has dents and distortion due to many years of service. once I bent the deck back close to original, the cover fits very snug. Yes the rubber straps are tight and I imagine they will stretch a bit. While some reviewers fastened it to their mower deck with screws, I wanted to keep mine flexible. there are quite a few obstructions around my property that have a tendency to bump the deck if I get too close or forget where they are hidden. If they should hit this cover the straps have enough give that should (hopefully ) allow it to slide around rather that crack. I fasten the front one before the cover is in place, then swing the cover over the chute and install the rear strap. other reviewers mention a small gap and this cover will leave a tiny slice of space if it's not installed just right. Also, the manual recommends not removing the original dust cover and this may also help keep any loose clippings in check. One thing I have noticed is that I need to clean out underneath the deck more frequently now that I'm mulching. getting a little off topic, I installed new Oregon G5 Gator mulching blades, and the quality of cut is quite satisfactory. I also (again 20 yr old mower) noticed one of the blade mandrel assemblies was tilted. to realign the blades I installed washers to shim two of the three bolts that hold it to the deck.

Let me start by saying I would have given 5 stars had I not had to modify the part. The description says it fits 42" mower decks for Craftsman. in my case....NOT SO MUCH.. but with a little ingenuity and my degree from the Mickey Mouse School of Technology, I made it work. Took an old bungie tie down and cut it to the correct length. A far as funtionality...I will give 5 stars. I found no problems with using the plug, even with tall wet grass. I did make 2 passes, but I am pleased with the results. No more dead grass discharge lines on my lawn. GREAT for those who mulch and a good alternative for those who dont want to go throught the hassle of a bagger system. After modiction, the install was literally under 5 minutes. I would mention I removed the entire discahrge assembly (2 through bolts is all; as you can see in the photo). As far as those who reviewed this product asnd said it is flimsy light plastic and broke on 1st use; I have to ask; were you mowing a bed of rocks. It is the same type of plastic used in the OEM part that came with the tractor.I will say the item arrived before Amazon said it would!!! I like the product and i will continue to use it. Cover fit perfect on my lt2000 but the straps broke as soon as I put them on.

I have an older Craftsman mower with a serial number date of 1994. The original mulching cover part number listed in the manual is 136420. Several mulching covers on Amazon labeled as this part number state they fit. Beware, they will not work with older mower decks, very sloppy fit! After trying a few covers this is the only one I found that fits snug for my older mower deck. The rubber bungees are stretched tight, so I added a link of light weight chain to each end to help relieve some tension. First cut in with the new cover and it stayed tight and worked out perfectly. Lets hope it lasts!

I was using it to replace the mulch cover on a Craftsman DLT 3000. The fit was ok. As stated above it didn’t survive a single mow of a 2 acre plot, where the original mulch cover had held up for more than a decade without problems.

Rubber stretchy strap bit is too short. 1st pictures is from my OEM bagger showing the length there.Fits 2004 Craftsman LT2000 mower.Added a 3/16th quick link I had around to keep from breaking the front strap.Package arrived torn up and missing one of the spring clips. Kumar Bros representative quickly responded and sent me a new clip.It is not made out of the same plastic as OEM parts are. It is hard plastic vs the flexible plastic. So as others have mentioned, it may not be able to take a hit from a rock. Oh well, it is the only option I could find.
