I bought this because I thought it would be a neat idea for an item to keep in a "BOB" for survival situations. And because I was just curious to see whether a rod and reel of this size would actually be practical. While I think the reel could useful given how small it is, the rod is really a joke. While the rod is about as long as advertised, it doesn't seem like you can catch any decent sized fish without serious risk of breaking it. The Amazon description says you should use 4lb line on it, but the back of the packaging says the maximum bearing weight is "1000gr", which is 2lbs. I guess that's better than nothing. Then again, the whole thing is about the quality one would expect for $16 crap from China, so I can't rate this item like I'm surprised. It's just too bad that there seems to be no other rod and reel combos that are this small but are also made properly with quality materials.

Good rod bad reel . Hard to pull them in with the reel they give with it. Hard just have to strip the line .

I unscrewed the handle from the bottom and loaded up the reel with some fly line. Works great in those small creeks and pools where its impractical to use (read: transport) a regular size fly rod. Easy to stuff in your pack. I sewed a little case for it that clips on to my pack so its right there whenever I need it while camping. Thinking about buying a second to keep in my glove box. You never know when you may come across a good hole!

I bought this to see if I'm able to use it to fish some small lakes but i wasn't expecting it to be kinda hard to use as well setting it up thought it would be a easy casting but it won't cast reel was tight even loosening the drag which is a single bolt/nut but again haven't used it yet

He rides around in his bike with this in his pack. I installed some old 3wt fly line and a leaders. He’s a bluegill master now

Beyond cheeply made. The absolutely cheepest corners cut product. The metal used is so flimsy I can bed it with my fingers. I can't in good concious recommend this. I can't recommend fishing with this either and the fish will be given a dis service and end up dying with line in its mouth rather than being landed and released.
