American Patchwork

A Whole New Groove
This is somewhat of a change for Anders on this latest release. This album is a little more rock and roll and less of the blues and funk that we are all used to. With that said, it is an awesome collection of songs by three VERY talented musicians. On guitar, Anders Osborne, bringing his unique style to these well written lyrical compositions. On keys, Robert Walters, of Greyboy Allstars and 20th Century Congress fame. ...and on drums, 'Stanton Moore the drumming whore', Galactic, Garage A Trois, Stanton Moore Trio, Moore and More, to name a few. One of the pleasures of this disc is to actually hear Stanton play a measured rock and roll beat which can be said really displays his creative range. Noting that point, it is also easy to point out that Anders too is showing his range by playing a little more rock and roll. Over all a very good album. If you get a chance, catch these guys performing this music live. I did an it was amazing. Will Bernard, Stanton Moore, Robert Walters, Anders Osborne AND George Porter. Wow. Was that awesome!

This is a blues, funk, jazz, reggae and classic rock blended album. I like the way he presents himself musically here. Works out well, if you like the old styled rock. If you are not into old-school styles of rock then I would stay clear of this album. However, if you are then I would absolutely recommend this album.Anders Obsorne's album American Patchwork reminds me of several classic rock bands. Bands/Artists like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Guess Who, Bob Marley, and several others that escape me at this time, come to mind when listening to him.Examples of what I am talking about can be found within the first four songs of American Patchwork.I love the mellow sounds within "Acapulco" and "Got Your Heart." "Got Your Heart" has a mellow reggae sound to it, much like many Bob Marley tracks. The opening track "On The Road To Charlie Parker" & the later track "Darkness At The Bottom" are some tracks that have classic rock styles that remind me of many of the greats from our past. They got my feet tapping. His vocals on this album are just stunning, that I could swear I was listening to old albums. They compliment the guitar very well. The guitar working within the album is astonishing. The way it is shredded within some many tracks is much like having a sonic love making session with each song and solo. Prime example of this shredding and sonic love making can be found in songs like "Darkness At The Bottom."Lastly, I will leave with two comments. Classic rock lovers will enjoy this and is recommended to get this album. If you are not into classic rock, then please stay clear.

Totally righteous blues rock.
This is a great album. I actually got to see the tour for this album, and it was awesome too. Best power trio out there.

Soundtrack for Summer 2010
Anders Osborne has voice. His album, American Patchwork, is a humble soulful expression of putting things back together and returning from something adverse. It is a story of the American Dream. Osborne provides the soundtrack for my Summer of 2010, his album playing often, finding myself searching through it for all the gems and twisted truths, the chunky grooves,--Osborne starts with a grim tune about going to the crossroad--"On The Road to Charlie Parker", and ends with a cautionary beautiful lilt, pleading for the power of asking--"Call on me". In between, there are reminiscent moments like you've heard this before. Shades of Allmann Bros. and Leon Russell. Phenomenal guitar work, creative and innovative in a classic way.--Recorded for Alligator Records, this is an unusual choice by this primarily blues label. Anders Osborne channels the best of rock's past with a new lyrical verve and the band is from New Orleans so you know they're great.--I suggest getting the album and digging in. There are some GREAT songs in here.--Moboman ([...] Long Beach, Ca)

The Real Deal
This album gets better with every listen. Honest, gritty, and soulful. Saw Anders on TV during the New Orleans Jazz Festival, bought this album, plan to buy more.

Love it!!
I wish I had gotten this when it was released two years ago. Great songs and vocals. I've seen Anders Osborne perform several times in the last five years. He is fantastic. You can't go wrong with this album.
