Q: Are the hinge issues on the previous versions fixed on this model?

The chassis is the same but the screen lid uses a different hinge mech. My ux303ln was attached to the lid by plastic system that does not hold up as the plastic ages and becomes brittle. The ux303ub model has different hinges from my 303ln. The other problem is the screen housing was made of the same plastic and that also breaks. I am definitely disappointed with this issue. I was going to replace and repair the with a new lid and found that part of the attachment of the screen is breaking. This is my second zenbook. My ux32vd had no issues with the hinge but I've had sticky key issue. I rather prefer the euro version ux303ub model without the touch screen. Like my older ux32vd. I'm currently looking for euro version UX303UB-R4100T. On the positive side I like the dedicated graphics and core i7 and ssd healthy 16gb ram. But rather have 1920 x 1080 & anti glare screen without touch. If I cannot get the euro version and support from Asus this will definitely be "no more Asus" for me unless they rectify the build quality in the zenbook line. I think action is required but Asus to address and give recourse to this big problem.

Q: Are the hinges covered under warranty and does Asus suggest a cooling pad or cooling fan?

ASUS warranty covers hinges too, as long as the product is not abused by an end user. This notebook is cool enough, we haven't had any complaints about it overheating, i.e. no cooling pad or fan is required, the fan inside is already sufficient enough.

Q: Why is this heavier and have less battery life than ux305la (the 5th gen version with same specs otherwise)?

The difference is not that great. It's 2.86 lbs in UX305LA vs. 3.2 lbs in UX303UA. UX305LA is a non-touchscreen. UX303UA is the touchscreen. Touchscreens are made of glass, which is far heavier than the matte-surfaced non-touch. It's not exactly 0.34 lbs difference, but, probably, at least half of that. But, really, it's not that much. We are only talking about 150 grams difference here, or 5 ounces.

Q: Does this laptop has Backlit keyboard.?

Yes it does have backlit chicklet keyboard.
