Guinness World Records 2021 Hardcover – 17 Sept. 2020

I've still got my original copy of the 1981 edition of the Guinness book of records, with good old Norris McWhirter adorning the front cover. 40 years may have passed since my mum and dad got me that, and now it's me buying for my 11 year old, but I still enjoy reading it just as much. The 1981 edition was a far more sombre affair and it's almost unrecognisable from how it used to look but it's all most certainly for the better.It has competition from Ripley's Believe It Or Not annual these days, and for maybe Ripley's just edges it as the Christmas annual favourite, but this is still immensely enjoyable. I'm not sure anyone has ever paid full price for it though, as it always drops to £10 and then lower still after Christmas. Well worth picking up though at that price whatever the time of year.

I bought this for my Granddaughter who was 9 last week, she was absolutely thrilled. She was visiting with her little brother both of them are hard to entertain but they sat either side of me for over an hour quickly looking at the book . I learnt a lot in that hour, and with so many pictures in the book to accompany the record stories it held them fascinated. This is a good present for Christmas I know when my Son was young I bought it for him every year and he never tired of it. Keep the records coming. My 7yr old loves these books, great value for a book that is used for a whole year before the next one comes out! Never gets boring!

My son requested this for his birthday and he hasn't stopped putting it down. He's enjoying reading much more especially things he enjoys. Colourful pictures and strong facts that can be remembered.

Is it even Christmas without this? Santa has bought this every year for 20 years. When we lived in Spain we use to visit family for Christmas and take a suitcase of Santa’s stocking to UK and then cart it all back after Christmas. It weighs a ton but couldn’t have Christmas without it. It only gets glanced at on Christmas morning. One day I will have the strength to stop buying it ....maybe in a few years!
